Helen and Glenn's wedding at Cooling Castle Barn

If you are a regular reader of the blog, you will see lots of blog entries for Cooling Castle Barn but no matter how many times we are fortunate enough to work there, it always looks beautiful and always looks different to the last time we were there.  For Helen and Glenn's recent wedding, the look that we wanted was a more contemporary feel, not too large and using more structural flowers.  The colours were ivory and wine with a hint of gold, and hence we decided upon a range of calla lilies (Schwarzwalder, Picasso, Colombe de La Paix and Crystal Blush) along with oriental lilies, Black Love Anthuriums and with sprigs of willow and gold birch.

For Helen's bouquet, we used the darker Schwarzwalder Calla Lily along with Picasso Calla Lilies around the outside, spriggy pearls and lily grass.  For the bridesmaids, we used all ivory calla lilies with sprigs of lily grass, and for the little Flower Girl, a contemporary styled calla lily "wand".

Buttonholes and corsages were designed to match the girls' flowers, with Glenn wearing a striking double Picasso Calla lily buttonhole, and the rest of the party wearing ivory calla lilies to match in with the bridesmaids.  Corsages were provided for the ladies and designed to tone with the other flowers.

For the ceremony, we provided a structural pedestal arrangement for the centre of the dais and a low arrangement for the celebrant table, which set the theme for the wedding beautifully...the Black Love anthuriums looked like polished wood, and almost didn't look real (they are honestly!).

Helen and Glenn wanted their table arrangements to be slimline and structural and hence we provided lily vases with a hand-tied arrangement of lilies, calla lilies and anthuriums along with willow, gold birch and various grasses, some threaded with pearls.  Their top table was a long and low arrangement to sit in front of Helen and Glenn, and we finished the place settings with individual anthuriums.

Finally we used all the main wedding flowers in small wired sections for the three tier cake.  It was so simple but so striking and just tied everything together on the day, which was hopefully everything Helen and Glenn dreamed of....I know the sun was shining, Cooling was sparkling as ever (even the driveway was being cleaned of leaves and dust when we were there!) and the hair and make-up artist had done an amazing job with flawless make-up and pretty yet elegant hair for all the girls.   Perfect!
