Nikki and John's wedding in Bredhurst

Nikki is a photographer, and knows exactly what works in wedding photographs with regards to flowers and hence we needed to get the flowers just right for her. She wanted a soft, romantic, open and rustic English Country floral theme. This normally leads to a more loose and random arrangement of flowers, but Nikki knew that whilst she wanted this look, she also wanted symmetry.

For Nikki's bouquet, we wanted an ivory and pale pink combination and used Esperance and Avalanche roses along with spray roses and the beautifully scented stephanotis. We still managed to get the slightly vintage, rustic feel to the bouquet whilst giving the symmetry Nikki wanted in her photos (and it smelt gorgeous!)

For the bridesmaids, we scaled the rose bouquets according to age and size and kept them largely pale pink in colour ending up with an Esperance rose wand for the flower girl.

Buttonholes followed the overall theme with John having the Esperance rose, and all other male guests having Avalanche, all backed with a lovely sprig of rosemary. At the venue we simply floated gerbera heads in palest pink in fishbowls provided by Nikki. Hopefully all the photos turned out beautifully and I don't think we will have problems getting copies when Nikki is back!

Sarah and Graham's wedding in Frittenden

On a beautiful sunny, autumn day in the heart of the Kent countryside, what better colour to see than a profusion of golds and burnt oranges to tone in with navy dresses and military dress uniforms. We were so looking forward to Sarah and Graham's wedding, having provided flowers for Joanna, Graham's sister, earlier in the year. We were familiar with the setting and whilst the marquee layout was different, we were quite comfortable with what would work. Whilst Sarah was initially unsure about the colour scheme given the navy and ivory elsewhere, she did want a more contemporary feel to her day and wanted something a little different. She fell in love with the High and Magic rose and hence it featured heavily in her wedding flowers along with the stunning Mango Calla Lily.
The bride and groom have since shared some of their family photographs with us, so we have been lucky enough to include them as part of the blog, just so that you can see how well the colours looked together, and how beautiful the happy couple looked. Can't wait to see Graham's photos though....there are evidently quite a few!

For Sarah's bouquet, we used an exotic gold cymbidium orchid alongside the High and Magic rose and Mango calla lilies. We added the navy sash and brooch to tie in with detailing on the dress and kept the foliage really simple to show off the flowers at their best. Against Sarah's stunning dress, we think it looked great.

For Sarah's bridesmaids, we chose simple yet striking overarm bouquets of Mango Calla Lilies along with grasses. We started with larger bouquets for the eldest bridesmaids and scaled down in size right down to a "wand" for the flower girl edged in navy feathers to tie in with the theme.

For the rest of the bridal party, we kept to the burnt orange colour scheme for buttonholes, but used the orchids in ivory along with ribbon detailing to match individual outfits for the ladies.

For the witches hat marquee entrance area, we dressed the table with two gift boxes packed with flowers to match Sarah's bouquet and finished them with ribbon to match the bridesmaids dresses. They were placed beside the post box and doubled up as beautiful thank-you gifts later in the day.
Within the marquee, Sarah had fallen in love with the stylish and simple fishbowls and we used the Mango Calla Lilies to their best effect along with gold bear grass to tie in with the marquee dressing. We finished each table with just a sprinkling of the High and Magic rose petals to bring the roses into each table.

For the top table, we agreed upon a striking central arrangement showcasing the orchids along with the other flowers and it was a very strong focal point for the whole marquee. To balance the visual weight of the centrepiece, we used two additional fishbowls at each end which brought everything in the marquee together.

And finally, to welcome guests and the happy couple to the marquee, we dressed the baytrees provided with individual orchid heads and roses in hidden water phials and finished each with a trailing bow in ivory and navy to tie in with the theme....we thought they were the perfect finishing touch and set the marquee off beautifully.

Helen and Glen's wedding in Brenchley

What an idyllic Kent wedding Helen and Glen's wedding turned out to be....the most perfect village setting for both the church and the farm reception. Helen's family have owned the farm for years and produce the most amazing apple juice on top of the wonderful fruit they produce (which tastes so much better in situ and straight from the tree). Helen's family pulled out all the stops to ensure that her and Glen's wedding day was a huge success and the marquee looked great. It was one of the most stable and flatest floors we've worked on and given that the field was grazed by cows earlier in the eyar, it was no mean feat. The garden and the house were a picture postcard and I'm sure the professional photographs will be amazing. Helen's wedding was overlooked by her horses and even their beautiful old golden retriever....how much more perfect could you want on your wedding day. There was even a bottle of the fabulous apple juice on each table, with a photo of grandad on the label...a true family affair!
For Helen's tables, we wanted to keep the colours and style quite neutral and natural, but with an edge of glamour....the martini glasses worked a treat and we used green and ivory throughout and just added burgundy rose petals for a subtle hint of colour. They really set the marquee off well and despite it being a really warm day, were still looking as fresh the following day when we collected the vases.
For the top table, Helen and Glen wanted a full centrepiece but also wanted to extend the dressing out to the ends of the table, which we achieved using different ivys and rose petals. It all worked very well together and echoed the bouquets and personal flowers we provided.
For Helen's bouquet, she chose a slimline teardrop bouquet using all ivory and green flowers as used elsewhere with some touches of pearl and crystal for additional interest. The bouquet felt natural and yet very elegant and beautiful which would match Helen's overall look (although not sure the multi-coloured hair rollers in the morning were the most glamorous start to Helen's day!) Helen was already looking beautiful and radiant when we left....and very nervous! We can't wait to see the photos and see Helen and Glen looking gorgeous together.
For the bridal party flowers, we introduced a touch of burgundy to tie in with the underlying colour theme and went for a simple, yet striking hand-tied bridesmaid bouquet and buttonholes to match for the groom's party....for Glen we provided a large scented ivory rose buttonhole so that he tied in closely with Helen's bouquet.
We thought it was a wedding and location to remember and I think will be one that is remembered by all who attended for a long time to come. It will certainly be a much visited source for apple juice for us in the future! As well as being delicious on its own, it works a treat with gin! Well you've got to try out recommendations from time to time!

What....No Blog!!

What a couple of weeks! As mentioned before in the blog, we decided to move out of our Maidstone premises and supposedly closed the retail shop on 5th September.....although given the orders, phone calls etc, we don't really feel like we've closed the shop at the moment, which is actually really lovely. Thanks to all the customers and browsers who have expressed their regret at the shop closing and bemoaned the fact that they won't get their weekly fix of our window displays. We hope that they keep checking out the blog to see what we are up to next.

We've done a fair few weddings and events since the last blog over a week ago, but with managing these, trying to empty the shop, keeping up with orders and deliveries, re-decorating the shop and setting up the new studio, it's been a manic time and we haven't had a minute to download the photos or write a blog......

.....normal service will be resumed very soon, and we will have some lovely weddings on the blog soon so watch this space.

For those of you who haven't picked up the new number yet, it's now 01732 850723 so we look forward to hearing from you soon.

Jemma and Neil's wedding at Turkey Mill

Our main wedding last week was that of Jemma and Neil, pictured above as wonderfully created by Jemma's Mum! What a fabulous cake it was and a perfect match for the whole theme.

Jemma had been to a wedding fair a while ago and saw a hot pink and black theme that we had done, and decided that this would be a great theme for her wedding. Jemma's bridesmaids were wearing black and we decided that the hot pink Serena gerbera would be a great contrast along with sprigs of black bear grass. Jemma also wanted a bouquet of Serena gerberas and we added diamantes and flat black feathers along with black bear grass. We finished the bouquets with contrasting ribbons for a final effect. For the flower girls, we used fluffy feathers along with their Serena gerberas and crystals for their wands.

For the tables, Jemma fell in love with Martini Glasses and only wanted hot pink and black as the colours, hence standard foliage was out of the question. As Jemma wanted a contemporary look we chose black tie leaves folded in different ways, black bear grass and Serena gerberas. To complement and add texture to the Serena gerberas, we added Tenga Venga roses and the fascinating celosia, which proved quite a talking point for everyone.

For the top table, we used mini Martini vases at each end, and provided a small contemporary arrangement to sit in front of Jemma and Neil.

For the finishing touches, we placed gerberas with loops of black bear grass through every chair back, added gerberas to each place setting on the top table, and finished the post box and table plan with a couple of gerberas...all to finish the overall theme and all in water phials to ensure continued freshness.
