Katie and Jack's wedding at Combe Bank School

This was always going to be one of our favourite weddings as Katie has such great taste and had chosen the most beautiful and elegant selection of green and ivory flowers for her wedding.  With an accent colour of navy blue for her bridesmaids, and the fresh floral theme, it looked so elegant.

Katie's dress was "to die for".  So stunning with box pleats, fabulous train, simply beautiful Gina shoes and all the details to go with this so carefully thought out.  The dress was so simple, yet so striking and elegant, that we had to go for a phalaenopsis orchid cascade bouquet for Katie.  Jack's buttonhole was designed to match.

Katie had a bridal entourage of three adult bridesmaids in navy blue Vera Wang dresses, six flower girls ranging from 2 years old to five years old, and a mini flower girl of ten months old!  We can only imagine how lovely the whole group will look in the photos.  We provided large hand-tied bouquets of ivory hydrangeas, ivory and green roses for the adult bridesmaids, with stems wrapped in ivory with a simple navy ribbon fastened with a pearl pin.  We then scaled down the bouquets according to the age of the bridesmaids, ending up with a small ivory rose wand for the mini flower girl.  All very elegant and striking.

Buttonholes for the groom's party followed the lead set by the bridesmaids and consisted of roses with foliage for the boys, and roses, spray roses and foliage for the ladies.

To welcome guests to Combe Bank, we potted two large white hydrangea plants in simple zinc containers which stood out against the black screens.  We then dressed the chapel very simply with an extra large pedestal arrangement.  Katie and Jack were having a gospel choir the other side of the altar, hence we decided on just one arrangement.

For the extremely decorative Adam Room, we provided hatboxes of hydrangeas and roses finished elegantly with a navy ribbon, and then dressed the fireplace with a large arrangement of hydrangeas, roses, delphiniums, orchids, chincherinchee and other seasonal flowers.

The staircase area leading down the the dining room received extra special treatment for Katie and Jack's wedding with not only a foliage garland and newel post arrangements at the bottom, but with soft arrangements of hydrangeas, delphiniums and roses adorning the handrails from the top to the bottom of the stairs.  It all looked so pretty, fresh and yet grand at the same time.

As Katie and Jack had the maximum number of tables in the dining room, we decided it would be best to alternate high and low arrangements for the guest tables to keep it looking light and open, and not to overpower the room with all tall arrangements.  For half the tables, we therefore used trumpet vases with relatively compact top arrangements of roses, hydrangeas and foliage, and included a floating green rose in each vase.

Hatboxes packed with hydrangeas and roses were used on the remaining guest tables.

And for the circular top table....Katie and Jack wanted a huge arrangement which would stand out against all the other tables.  We therefore used a large flute vase containing trails of orchids on hidden thread and provided an extremely large and lovely top arrangement of hydrangeas, orchids, roses, delphiniums, chincherincee and foliage.  It was a real talking point arrangement and there could be no mistaking which was the top table.

Finally we dressed the cake with trails of orchids, and added single hydrangea heads to the candelabra provided at the venue to frame the guest book.

All the details and the planning Katie and Jack had put into their special day shone through and I don't think we've ever seen Combe Bank look so good.  The weather even stopped being unpredictable for the day, and the sun was peeking through the clouds ready for Katie's arrival.  We can't wait to see the photos from Karma photographic (http://www.karma-photographic.co.uk/) when they're ready in a few weeks.  We'll try to persuade them to let us see the happy couple and the extremely elegant bridal party.  In the meantime, hope you enjoy the flowers.
