Becky and Dean's wedding at Cooling Castle Barn

The beautiful Becky is a fan of all things vintage and shabby chic, and particularly loves English Country garden flowers such as hydrangeas and peonies....in fact she set the wedding date for a month where peonies were available as she really wanted them to be part of her wedding day.  Having chosen a stunning Jenny Packham dress in a platinum colour, we decided that muted pinks, ivories and faded lilacs were the best colour scheme.  Dean is a perfectionist and likes order in his world, so deciding to go for random, non matching and slightly messy flowers was a leap of faith for him, but we assured him that we would keep it neat and ordered within a slightly looser brief.

For Becky's bouquet, we provided a textured, pretty hand-tied bouquet of peonies, green hydranges, Vendella, Amnesia and La Belle roses, bouvardia, sweet peas, freesias and aromatic folaige including rosemary and eucalyptus.  We wanted to keep the vintage feel running throughout so wrapped the stems in a crochetted doily and finished it with an heirloom brooch provided by Becky.

For Poppy, we provided a smaller version of Becky's bouquet without the peonies, but with buttons wired throughout and buttons attached to the stems....which set the lovely button theme for later (and if you are a regular reader, you will know how much we love buttons!)

For the boys, we provided an Amnesia rose buttonhole for Dean with rosemary and eucalyptus, and then used the La Belle rose for the rest of the groom's party.  Corsages for the ladies all had ribbon to match outfits but kept the flowers ivory.  We also added spriggy pearls to a number of them.

To welcome guests into the first barn, we provided two birdcages dressed with flowers to match the remaining wedding flowers.  One was propped open to act as the Post Box, and the other was placed on the coffee table.  Both were going to be moved to the main barn later in the evening.

For the ceremony barn, we placed a couple of vintage vases of flowers on the celebrant table and Becy was going to lay her bouquet in the centre of the table.

In the main barn, we followed a mistmatched vintage theme for the top table using a selection of vases and jars dressed with buttons and lace and with a range of peonies, hydrangeas, roses, astrantia, sweet peas, freesias etc to match all the other flowers.  We added a couple of clusters of fluted votives with tealights for additional glow and then added hydrangea florets in between along with sprinkled buttons.  At either end of the table, we used small lily vases with ivy and pearls twisted around the stem to reflect the arrangements used on the guest tables.

For the guest tables, we decided we needed to use height given the vast ceiling in Cooling, but Becky didn't want to use just glass or candelabras and so we used tall slim vases with ivy and eucalyptus garlands twisted around,  We wound pearls through the garlands and added spray roses at intervals which meant that the actual glass of the vases wasn't a focus and the overall look was much softer.  The top arrangements were soft, textured, slightly messy and quite full.  The overall look was very rustic and yet elegant.  We added hydrangea florets on the table in between fluted votives.

We also provided bouquets for Mums and for the cake maker (check out the fabulous cake!) using flowers to tone with the wedding and also delivered a lovely bouquet to Becky from Dean on the morning of the wedding....more opportunities for tears on an emotional day!

We will have some photos of Dean, Becky, Poppy and the bridal party in due course, but we know they will have looked stunning together.  We know that they loved their day and their flowers and unsurprisingly couldn't be more complimentary of the fabulous Cooling Castle Barn.  We loved being part of their special day and helping them with their planning.  We know they will be so happy together and make a wonderful couple.
