Suzie and Barry planned the most beautiful wedding at Chilston Park early this Autumn. They had decided on lemon bridesmaids' dresses and then having determined to use the Coach House at Chilston for their reception venue, they wanted to bring style, personality and "wow" to the neutral surroundings using flowers and colour. Whilst wanting to add colour, they didn't want to use bright and clashing flowers and hence the best description we came up with was a vibrant mix of pastels!
Suzie is petite, pretty and blonde (don't groan as she's lovely with it) and chose a perfect fitted to the knee Jasmine bridal detailed gown with a low side corsage, full tulle bottom and a train. It was so gorgeous for her figure and was bound to "wow". Her bridesmaids were in glamorous grecian style lemon dresses with a one shoulder floral corsage. The flower girls wore ivory with lemon sashes. All lovely and fresh, pretty and different.
For the flowers, we decided to follow the multi-petalled look of the fabric corsages on the dresses and stick with as many soft petals as possible. We therefore decided upon hydrangea, roses (Amnesia, Vanilla Sky, Savita), lisianthus, dahlia, guelder rose and added eremurus for height for the tables.
Hand-tied bouquets were provided for all the girls from Suzie to the flower girls and textured buttonholes provided for the boys who were resplendent in grey morning suits with an ivory cravate for Barry and lemon for the rest of the boys. A lapel corsage was also provided for Barry's Mum.
For the ceremony in the Orangery, we provided a long and low arrangement for the celebrant table (not photographed...silly me!) using all the various flowers used elsewhere as well as eremurus. We then framed the aisle with freestanding candlesticks with a soft domed arrangement on top and with a lemon organza bow trailing from the side. So pretty!
For the reception, we needed to fulfil Suzie and Barry's brief for "flowers with personality" and a "wow" factor, and hence we provided very large and full multi-petalled arrangements on top of tall slim glass vases. Each arrangement had hundreds of flowers massed at the bottom, with tall and striking eremurus comeing through the top and also in the stem of the vase. At the base of each vases we provided a selection of small vases, each containing a single variety of flower and a single colour, making sure we covered the main colours. We think they fit the bill rather nicely and we loved them (despite having a few nervous moments transporting and setting them up!).
We finished the set-up in the Coach House with a long top table arrangement and then added empty vases at either end to take the bridesmaids' bouquets for freshness and extra colour during the reception.
We can't leave without mentioning our friends at Creative Cakes who provided Suzie and Barry's cake for the day...lovely as ever.
