Carly and Dave's striking Rowhill Grange Wedding

 

Today it's time to bring you Carly and Dave's lovely wedding at Rowhill Grange.  Whilst we love all the soft, pale English style flowers we are using at the moment, it is so nice to take a step back sometimes and use more contemporary flowers in a striking colour palette.  Back in the days when we had the shop, there was never an order of flowers into the shop that didn't contain calla lilies or anthuriums...our logo is even a stylistic set of anthuriums, but we don't get to use them much these days.  We were therefore thrilled with the stylish requirements of Carly and Dave whose colour scheme was aubergine, white and lime green.  Fab.

Carly looked absolutely stunning (great hair and make-up and fab dress).  She decided that she wanted a shower bouquet, but in the European style which tends to be more stylised.  We used Schwarzwalder and Picasso Calla lilies, whtie anthuriums, Greentrick and Black Tie leaves with China and Bear Grass.  So contemporary and stylish.

For the bridesmaids, we designed hand-tied bouquets of Picasso Calla Lilies along with Greentrick and Black Tie Leaves with grasses and then scaled this down for the junior bridesmaids.

The boys wore Calla lilies buttonholes, with Dave wearing the Schwarzwalder Calla with Greetrick, Black tie and grasses and the rest of the Groom's Party wearing Picasso Calla buttonholes with Black Tie and grasses.  We used mini calla lilies for the Mums with crystals and details to match outfits, and also provided one for Samantha.

For the celebrant table (to go in the gazebo), and then for the top table, we provided a long and low arrangement of calla lilies, anthuriums, celosia, greentrick and shamrock blooms along with palms, leaves and grasses.

 

We then decided to use mirrored cubes for the guest tables placed on mirrors.  In each of the cubes we used Calla lilies, Anthuriums, Celosia, Shamrocks, Kermit and foliage to match the day.  We hand-tied each of them and wrapped them in an aqua pack which we hid inside the cubes.  This kept them fresh all day, and then ideal to give to selected guests, whose names were hidden on tags attached.  We added the really cool tablenames to each arrangement.  We then added a variety of sprinkles provided by Carly and Dave to finish the table.  Beautiful.

And finally for the lovely cake made by Carly's Mum.  Beautifully made and finished with a simple yet structural topper of flowers....and a lego couple!  A fantastic wedding for a fabulous couple and their lovely families....would love to do it all over again.

Kellie and John's fresh and elegant Cooling Castle Barn wedding

 

Kellie was very clear about the style she wanted in Cooling Castle Barn, and had seen pictures of similar styled arrangements.  This usually makes us very nervous as we worry we may not match the picture in a bride's head.  But we needn't have worried as Kellie and her family (including Mum's lovely lovely dog Bella) were all lovely.  Whilst Kellie was so nervous on the morning of the wedding, and worried more about walking down the aisle rather than any of the other details, but we know she had a great day. 

Kellie and John wanted a glamorous and striking look for their wedding day all in greens and ivories and featuring calla and oriental lilies.  As the accent colour was gold, we added subtle touches of the gold via foliage sprayed gold and with touches of glitter.  Very subtle and very lovely...just like the happy couple.

Kellie's bouquet was a quite unusual graduated hand-tied bouquet featuring calla lilies, spray roses, ornithogalum arabicum, freesias and with foliage.  It was edged with a collar of pittosporum and finished with ivory organza and two rows of diamante pins top and bottom.

For Emma, we tried to replicate the feel of the bridal bouquet, but using smaller calla lilies and using less diamantes to finish.

Buttonholes were elegant calla lilies with John's having a touch of rose and freesia added to match Kellie's bouquet.  Corsages were also provided for the Mums along with thank-you bouquets which we took to the venue.

For the top table, we designed a long and low arrangement using all the lilies, roses, spray roses, freesias, delphiniums, trachellium, chincherinchee along with foliage, some sprayed light gold.  It really looked the part and filled the end of the room perfectly.  We also added calla lilies and chincherinchee to the place settings for extra impact.

 

For the guest tables, Kellie and John wanted tall martini vases which we filled with sisal and fairy lights and then added  full, soft and tapered arrangement on the top with additional height provided by elegant white delphiniums.  This really filled the large space that Cooling has and we liked the additional height for the impact it gave.

The final finishing touch was the cake from our friends at Creative Cakes.  We work together a lot at the moment, so it's nice to feature some of the cakes they provide...this one looked yummy.

Kellie and John are such a lovely couple and we know they had a fabulous day at Cooling.  Hopefully this blog post gives them a little reminder of their big day.  We wish them all the very best for the future.

Hazel and Andy's stylish winter Eastwell Manor wedding

 On Twelfth Night, Hazel and Andy celebrated their wedding at Eastwell Manor, with a link across the internet to Hazel's family overseas (very clever eh).  We looked forward to this wedding as we loved spending time with Hazel and her daughters Clarissa and Dixie planning their wedding.  They are such a lovely family and we loved the theme of blue and snowflakes (which were kept as a surprise for Andy).

Hazel wanted an elegant and wintery blue and ivory wedding with a different twist.  She loves lilies and hence we decided to incorporate oriental lilies, longiflora lilies and calla lilies along with the unusual Honeymoon tulip, blue eryngium thistle, hypericum berries and lots of snowy branches / pussy willow etc.

Hazel's bouquet was a structural overarm bouquet of lilies, eryngium, freesias and pussy willow with rolled leaves and spriggy foliage.  Hazel is tall and slender and this bouquet was perfect for her stature and to show off her dress.  We finished it with a sparkly butterfly brooch to match the brooches on the Flower Girls' bags.  We also provided a range of spray roses and hypericum berries for Hazel's hair which was being dressed by the lovely Nina (a former bride of ours) who is an ace hairdresser!

For Clarissa, Hazel's bridesmaid, we decided to design a wrist corsage to extend up her arm.  This tied in with Hazel's overarm bouquet but was easier to manage, and not at all itchy!!  We added snowflakes to the ribbon trails to tie in with the theme.  Lovely!  We also provided roses for Clarissa's hair.

For Dixie and Mac the gorgeous Flower Girls, we designed floral handbags in silk so that they could have them as a keepsake.  We added blue detailing to the handle and in between the roses.  We then finished them with butterfly brooches front and back.

For the buttonholes, we used a calla lily for Andy with an eryngium thistle and pussy willow to tie in with Hazel's bouquet.  We then provided a tulip buttonhole for Dad and corsages for the Mums to tie in with their outfits.

For the ceremony table, we decided to keep it relatively simple with three different height cylinder vases with hand-tied honeymoon tulips with spriggy foliage.

We then designed rather unusual square tablecentres for the tables in the Rose Garden room using a more contemporary grouped approach and added raised glass tealight holders.  We also added snowflakes to the arrangements and to the wine glasses on the top table.

We loved the elegant simplicity of the wedding with the odd quirky detail such as the snowflakes, the diamond shaped cake with snowflakes cascading from the side, and the fabulous wellies.  We hope that despite it not being a frosty day (misty and grey unfortunately) that Hazel and Andy had a wonderful day.  They put so much thought into the details and the planning and I hope it was all perfect for them.
