Tamara and Tom's soft and pretty Cooling Castle Barn wedding

 It might have been January but it didn't mean wintery flowers for Tamara and Tom's wedding.  They chose soft and pretty blooms in pastel pinks, blues and ivory.  We used lots of seasonal paperwhites, ranunculus, muscari, forget me nots etc along with roses, hypericum, gypsophillia, hydrangea bouvardia and vibernum tinus.

For Tamara's bouquet we used a soft mix of the flowers and colours in a textured and pretty hand-tied bouquet.  Tamara wore a lovely fitted lace gown with cap sleeves and as she had some offcuts of lace from the dress, we were able to wrap her bouquet stems to match.

For her bridesmaids, we chose simple but effective and extremely popular white gypsophilia bouquets wrapped in lace to contrast against their black gowns.  We also provide pink roses to be wired into their hair.

For the boys we wanted to use the lovely Sweet Avalanche roses but we also want to create some of the texture that was evident in Tamara's bouquet.  We therefore added muscari and ranunculus to Tom's bouquet to provide a splash of all the colours, and added the white gypsophilia of the bridesmaids' bouquets to the remainder of the buttonholes.  Corsages were provided for the Mums  along with pretty hand-tied thank-you bouquets featuring the gorgeous Apple Blossom Amaryllis.

For the ceremony, we hung a willow heart dressed with flowers to match the wedding on the wall and then added enamel pitchers full of flowers for the celebrant table for the signing of the register.  To frame the aisle, we alternated hanging vases of gypsophilia with floor level pitchers of flowers to create a really pretty entrance for Tamara.  We continued the gyposphilia theme up the staircase by tying bunches at intervals with lace ribbon.

For the reception, Tamara and Tom wanted a different, yet complementary look for their tables and so chose tall martini vases filled with clear gel pearls.  We then added full, yet not trailing arrangements of all the wedding flowers including the gorgeous seasonal amaryllis to the tops.

For the top table, we used mini martini vase arrangements along the top to tie in with the guest tables and added little lanterns with tealights in between for that romantic candlelit look during the meal.  Tamara and Tom love candlelight, so we added tall hurricane lanterns to the floor in front of the top table to finish the look.   We also decided it would be nice to add something to the napkins, hence roses and gypsophilia were used to complete the top table dressing.

Tamara and Tom had chosen the lovely chiavari chairs instead of the normal chairs which worked so well with their styling.  We thus provided all the fairy lights for beams and up to the DJ box for them on the day to finish the look.  Tamara emailed us on her way to her honeymoon destination to say that it had been the best day of her life and was just perfect...just what we kept our fingers crossed she'd say!  Hope you all love it too.

Emma and Dan's stylish navy blue and ivory Cooling Castle Barn wedding

 

 
When we met with Emma and Dan, it was very clear that their wedding had to be stylish and elegant.  Their timeless colour scheme was navy blue and ivory and Emma liked a soft and pretty, realtively neat style.  They married in Bexley with a reception at Cooling Castle Barn last November and whilst people tend to assume that dark blue flowers are difficult to source, they are in fact relatively easy at that time of year thanks to eryngium thistle and viburnum tinue.  We teamed these beauties with roses, spray roses, tulips, ranunculus and oriental lilies for a very striking wedding.

Emma is very petite and slim and hence her shower bouquet had to be designed with that in mind, so that the bouquet didn't wear her!  We kept to a slimline profile and used just roses, spray roses, ranunculus, eryngium and viburnum, with very light foliage.  The handle was wrapped in ivory satin ribbon with a neat navy bow at the top.

For Emma's bridesmaids, we used the same flowers, but combined them into hand-tied bouquets which were also wrapped to match the bridal bouquet.

For Dan, we chose a striking rose buttonhole with viburnum tinus berries and eryngium to match Emma's bouquet and then used spray roses for the rest of the boys.  Mums' corsages followed the floral theme of the wedding but with detailing added to match their chosen outfits.

For the top table at Cooling, we designed a central cascading arrangement using all the flowers used elsewhere and then added some empty vases to take the bridesmaids' bouquets along with votives, tealights and lots of lovely sparkly clear and blue crystals to add colour to the front of the table.  We also added roses and ranunculus to the place settings to finish it all off.

For the guest tables, we provided central mirror plates and large martini glass vases filled with fairy lights and navy blue sisal.  Into these we placed arrangements designed to match the rest of the wedding.  We thought they looked really striking and pretty and so did Emma and Dan...here's what they said when they spotted their flowers on our Facebook page...
