Nikki and Paul's contemporary purple and ivory wedding at Rowhill Grange

 
Nikki and Paul's story dates back to schooldays...with a long gap in the meantime and a chance meeting up North.  Fast forward a while, include a lovely baby and we provided the flowers for their lovely wedding at Rowhill Grange last August (I know...it takes me a while to catch up).  Nikki and her family are wonderful people and a joy to work with and I was so pleased to design their flowers.  Nikki knew that she wanted a purple and ivory theme and she liked a more contemporary look, so we used orchids, anthuriums, calla lilies, lisianthus and roses and added striking purple hydrangeas into the tablecentres.

Nikki chose a shower bouquet in a more contemporary style, which additional crystal sprigs for that touch of sparkle.  We added rolled leaves into the bouquet to give further definition as well.

For her bridesmaid, we designed a hand-tied bouquet of calla lilies, roses and lisianthus along with grevillia and grasses.  As she was wearing purple, we used more ivory than purple to allow it to stand out.  We then made a smaller version of this for Nikki's junior bridesmaid.  For her Flower Girl, we used a single calla lily surrounded by freesias and lisianthus.  As she was wearing an ivory dress, we used more purple to contrast.

For the boys, we used the stunning Vanda orchid with spray roses for Paul, so that he matched Nikki's bouquet, then used roses with lisianthus for the rest of the boys.  We then provided pretty corsages of dendrobrium orchids and spray roses with detailing added to match the Mums' outfits.  For the remainder of the guests, we provided pretty purple and ivory lisianthus buttonholes with simple foliage.

For the ceremony in the Clockhouse, we designed a contemporary full arrangement for the celebrant table using all the flowers used elsewhere. 

For the reception, we dressed the top table with a striking contemporary styled arrangement using all the flowers used elsewhere.  We then added hydrangea florets to the front of the cloth to give extra colour and added purple vanda orchids to the napkins as a finishing touch.

For the guest tables, we placed tall lily vases filled with purple water on central mirrors and added full arrangements of flowers to match all others at the top of the vase.  To finish the look, we sprinkled purple hydrangea florets and clear crystals on the mirrors. A final finishing touch was the cake topper which we designed to match the other flowers.

We know that Nikki and Paul, and all the family, had a fabulous day and it was so well deserved.  I'm so happy for them both and wish them a very long and happy life together.

Carly and Dave's striking Rowhill Grange Wedding

 

Today it's time to bring you Carly and Dave's lovely wedding at Rowhill Grange.  Whilst we love all the soft, pale English style flowers we are using at the moment, it is so nice to take a step back sometimes and use more contemporary flowers in a striking colour palette.  Back in the days when we had the shop, there was never an order of flowers into the shop that didn't contain calla lilies or anthuriums...our logo is even a stylistic set of anthuriums, but we don't get to use them much these days.  We were therefore thrilled with the stylish requirements of Carly and Dave whose colour scheme was aubergine, white and lime green.  Fab.

Carly looked absolutely stunning (great hair and make-up and fab dress).  She decided that she wanted a shower bouquet, but in the European style which tends to be more stylised.  We used Schwarzwalder and Picasso Calla lilies, whtie anthuriums, Greentrick and Black Tie leaves with China and Bear Grass.  So contemporary and stylish.

For the bridesmaids, we designed hand-tied bouquets of Picasso Calla Lilies along with Greentrick and Black Tie Leaves with grasses and then scaled this down for the junior bridesmaids.

The boys wore Calla lilies buttonholes, with Dave wearing the Schwarzwalder Calla with Greetrick, Black tie and grasses and the rest of the Groom's Party wearing Picasso Calla buttonholes with Black Tie and grasses.  We used mini calla lilies for the Mums with crystals and details to match outfits, and also provided one for Samantha.

For the celebrant table (to go in the gazebo), and then for the top table, we provided a long and low arrangement of calla lilies, anthuriums, celosia, greentrick and shamrock blooms along with palms, leaves and grasses.

 

We then decided to use mirrored cubes for the guest tables placed on mirrors.  In each of the cubes we used Calla lilies, Anthuriums, Celosia, Shamrocks, Kermit and foliage to match the day.  We hand-tied each of them and wrapped them in an aqua pack which we hid inside the cubes.  This kept them fresh all day, and then ideal to give to selected guests, whose names were hidden on tags attached.  We added the really cool tablenames to each arrangement.  We then added a variety of sprinkles provided by Carly and Dave to finish the table.  Beautiful.

And finally for the lovely cake made by Carly's Mum.  Beautifully made and finished with a simple yet structural topper of flowers....and a lego couple!  A fantastic wedding for a fabulous couple and their lovely families....would love to do it all over again.

Becca and Matt's wedding at Boughton Monchelsea church and after at Cooling Castle Barn

When we first met Becca and Matt, they weren't too sure about their colour scheme, although they thought that they may choose a striking pink for their bridesmaids' dresses.  Having seen one of our wedding exhibitions, they fell in love with the fabulous purple vanda orchid and the colour scheme and overall look and feel of the wedding was set.  We decided upon hot pink, purple and lime green to give a striking, contemporary yet elegant feel to the wedding and it worked fabulously at Cooling Castle Barn.

For Becca's bouquet, we decided upon a hand-tied bouquet using unusual Celosia, Greentrick and Anigozanthus (kangaroo paw) along with the purple Vanda orchids and hot pink gerberas along with simple loops of china grass.  Despite being a striking and unusual bouquet, we kept it a sensible size to ensure that it didn't overwhelm Becca and allowed her dress to remain centre stage.  We wrapped the stems in ivory ribbon, but added the purple and pink colours in a small bow at the top.  We can't wait to see photos of Becca with her bouquet, as we only saw her hair and make-up complete on the wedding morning.  She looked wonderful even in her dressing gown (how do people do that!) and was very calm and composed.  With her lovely dress, she was definitely going to take Matt's breath away!

For the bridesmaids, we decided to focus on lime green and purple to contrast against their dresses.   We used lisianthus, orchids, mini alliums, greentrick and kangaroo paw, along with loops and sprigs of grasses. We wrapped the stems again in ivory ribbon and added a pink bow to the top of the stems to tie in with their dresses...and we managed a perfect match with the dress colour.

For Matt, we used the purple Vanda orchid along with a pink germini and some greentrick.  He looked very handsome on the wedding morning, although a teeny bit nervous and I think the buttonhole will have worked perfectly for him.  For the rest of the boys, we used the pink germini and greentrick with grasses which will have looked lovely against their suits.  Mums had dendrobrium orchid and chincherinchee corsages and each was personalised to match their outfits.   They were also given thank-you bouquets to match the wedding flowers.

At Cooling Castle Barn, we used tall lily vases filled with strong pink water, with a full and striking top level arrangement of gerberas, anthuriums, alliums, greentrick, palms and aspidistras.  We also added some additional splashes of colour with purple and pink sisal buried deeply between the flowers.  We placed each on a central mirror to reflect the light.

A long and low, exotic arrangement  of anthuriums, orchids, alliums, celosia, gerberas, kangaroo paw, aspidistras, palms, grasses and sisal was provided for the top table, and we finished the whole look with germinis placed on each place setting on the top table.  The final touch of sparkle was provided by the fairy lights we wrapped around each beam.

Despite not being too sure about the initial colour scheme, I think the colours finally chosen were perfect and we hope that Becca and Matt had a truly perfect day.
