Libby and Luke's wedding in Hadlow

Despite being based in Hadlow, we rarely get to work in our village which is a shame, so it was nice to be involved in Libby and Luke's wedding recently.  They were getting married in Hadlow Church and then having their reception afterwards at Hadlow Manor.  Living locally meant that Libby could walk to church and in fact several guests walked to and from the hotel as well.

Libby and Luke chose a striking, yet simple colour scheme of ivory / white and green...very fresh and very pretty.   They wanted simple flowers as their wedding was intended to be relaxed and fun to match their personalities.  In fact, the best way to set the scene for the day is to share Libby's surprise for Luke...a homemade three tier pork pie "cake".  Luke said from the beginning he'd prefer it to a cake, and whilst we all joked about it, Libby took a day off work and made one as a surprise for the wedding day.  How cool is that!

The six bridesmaids were all wearing hunter green dresses and Libby had provided pashminas in case it got cold.  Libby herself had a gorgeous dress and absolutely stunning ivory lace t-bar shoes  edged in green...they were handmade for her and were lovely.

For flowers we kept the selection and arrangements simple with a hand-tied bouquet of lisianthus, honeymoon tulips and chincherinchee with hard and soft ruscus. We provided a larger bouquet for Libby wrapped in green ribbon to match the girls' dresses and smaller versions wrapped in ivory for the bridesmaids. We also provided a selection of different sized buds and heads of lisianthus wired for Libby's lovely long dark hair which was styled by another local (Victoria Boorman Professional Hair). Evidently the flowers were still looking good the following day too.  Bearing in mind we delivered them early in the morning ahead of all other flowers (other than a lovely gift bouquet for Libby from a thoughtful groom!), they really did last well.

For Luke, we matched his buttonhole to Libby's bouquet with chincherinchee, tulip, lisianthus and ruscus.  For his Best Men, we scaled down slightly and used the tulip with lisianthus buds and rucus.  For the remainder of the Groom's party we used tulips and ruscus.  Mums' buttonholes followed the theme using the lisianthus and chincherinchee with ribbon added to match their outfits.  Thank you bouquets were also provided.

As we were in Lent, no flowers were in the church and hence we needed to provide something simple yet easily removable.  Libby and Luke had decided upon a selection of simple jugs for the venue, so we provided two either side of them for their vows, and subsequently moved them after the ceremony.

At Hadlow Manor, we used simple jugs provided by Libby and Luke with hand-tied arrangments of the tulips, lisianthus and chincherinchee.  We added one to the cake table and the bouquets from the bridal party were to be used following the ceremony in jugs provided on the top table.

It was a lovely wedding to be involved in, and being a "neighbour" of Libby and Luke's made it even nicer.  They had a wonderful day and were a wonderfully matched couple who were just focussed on having a great day without lots of fuss and too much stress...and look how lovely it all looked...we hope to have some photos to add in the future.

  1. How wonderful to have a 'local' wedding. Absolutely stunning.
