Marlotte and David's wedding in Willesborough Windmill and after at Secret Garden, Mersham

Childhood sweethearts Marlotte and David married recently after knowing each other all their lives.  They were clearly destined to be together and are a wonderful couple.  Marlotte is Dutch and David is English, and hence they wanted to represent both countries within their flowers.  Marlotte loves the red and yellow Flaming Parrot tulip and hence we used this as the base for the flowers and also the colour scheme.  The Dutch were represented by the tulips, and the English by the roses.  How well they go together too!

Marlotte chose her gorgeous dress overseas and it was truly stunning with a heavily detailed bodice tailing off into delicate appliqued sections on the full skirt.  Perfect for Marlotte.  David look very dapper too in a slim fitting suit with ivory cravate.  A lovely couple as you can see.

For Marlotte's bouquet, we married tulips and roses using the parrot tulip, Grand Prix roses, yellow tulips and spray roses along with rosemary and eucalyptus parvifolia.  We finished the stems with ivory organza finished in a simple bow.

For Ellemieke, Marlotte's Maid of Honour, we decided upon a wrist corsage on ivory ribbon to contrast against her yellow/gold dress.  Being Dutch, we wanted to use the tulips, but also added a few spray roses in to ensure the wrist corsage matched Marlotte's bouquet.

For David, we used both a rose and a tulip to signify bringing together the Dutch and the English sides of the family and we arranged it in a beautiful silver lapel vase which David would keep as a memento of the day.

For the English family, we provided rose buttonholes and spray rose corsages, and for the Dutch family we provided tulip buttonholes and corsages.  They all complimented each other perfectly.

Marlotte and David kept their ceremony and reception small and intimate at both Willesborough Windmill and The Secret Garden with a larger gathering in the Coach House in the evening.  We provided a simple mirrored cube with an arrangement of tulips, roses and spray roses for the celebrant table.  We then dressed the long tables in the conservatory for the reception with mirrored cubes matching the one at the Windmill.  We added an empty larger cube in the middle for Marlotte's bouquet.  We then "joined" them all together with petals and rosebuds.  It looked so bright, cheerful and yet relaxed and pretty.  Perfect for Marlotte and David's style and the feel they wanted for their wedding day.

We hope Marlotte and David had a good day.  They kindly sent us a few photos taken by Marlotte's father and they look so happy.  We were so pleased to be involved in such a happy and relaxed day and having bought flowers from Holland for so long, it was nice to be using them for a Dutch and English wedding.

Vic and Richard's wedding at The Great Barn in Rolvenden

What better way to brighten up a dullish day than to have gorgeous bright colours for your wedding flowers.  Vic and Richard were married in Rolvenden Barn over Easter using the orange and purple of Easter with a hint of cerise pink.  Having met Vic when we provided flowers for her sister Beth's wedding to Simon last year, we all knew we wanted a very different look for Vic and Richard's flowers.  So to tie in with the rustic barn, with the Easter season and to fit with the personalities and style of the bride and groom, we decided upon slightly unstructured and natural hand-ties for both bouquets and tablecentres.

A mass of fabulous colour!

Vic had chosen a lovely flowing empire line gown with beading at the bustline and was wearing a short veil and headband.  Given the simplicity of the gown and the fact that Vic is pretty petite, we designed a hand-tied colourful bouquet of Mango Calla lilies, double Orange Princess tulips, purple lisianthus and purple veronica, ivory chincherinchee and cerise pink germinis along with rosemary and ivy.  We wrapped the stems in ivory ribbon to match Vic's dress and then overlaid narrower orange ribbon in a criss-cross style over the top.

For Richard, we provided a Mango Calla Lily buttonhole with purple veronica and chincherinchee along with rosemary and ivy.  The remainder of the grooms' party wore purple veronica and chincherinchee buttonholes with rosemary and ivy.  For the ladies' we provided a range of corsages using chincherinchee, spray roses and foliage, with each tailored to their outfits and some being designed differently to denote different roles in the wedding.

For the ceremony, we dressed the celebrant table with a colourful long and low arrangement using all the flowers used elsewhere in the wedding, with lots of soft trailing ivy.  We also provided four vase arrangements for the bar area.  We dressed the balustrades and handrails on the steps up to the ceremony area with foliage garlands interspersed with flowers matching the wedding.

For the reception, the celebrant table arrangement was moved and placed in the centre of the top table, and each of the ten guest tables had a low tapered glass vase filled with a hand-tied naturally styled arrangement of germinis, veronica, tulips, lisianthus and chincherinchee with ivy and rosemary.  These were simply tied with raffia to enable guests to take them home at the end of the day.  Love the favours of personalised egg cups and creme eggs for the guests!

Finally, we provided hand-tied aqua packed thank-you bouquets to match the wedding flowers, and also provided a range of flowers for the tiered stand of cupcakes.  Unfortunately due to time constraints, we couldn't photograph the cupcakes, but we know it would have looked lovely.

Vic and Richard had a wonderful day and were still smiling the following morning when undertaking the tidy-up operation.  They are such a happy and relaxed couple and chose a perfect wedding for them.  We loved being involved and also catching up with Beth and Simon and the rest of their family again.  We wish them all the very very best for a long and happy future together.
