Laura and Andrew's wedding at Weald of Kent Golf Club
Another recent wedding was the lovely Laura and Andrew's big day at Weald of Kent Golf Club. The sun was shining, the goslings were wandering around outside the windows as though pre-ordered! and the staff at the Golf Club as ever had everything under control. Laura and Andrew's wedding was a very striking black and white theme, and Laura wanted her flowers to be very simple, contemporary and yet stylish. Black eyed gerberas were central to the theme, with roses added for the main bridal flowers. Black bear grass and striking black-tie leaves brought in additional colour and we used black sisal in the Weald of Kent's small martini vases. All very crisp, simple yet striking.
For Laura's bouquet, we used large headed ivory roses alongside the gerberas and added a few black feathers and some sparkly diamantes for extra effect. Black bear grass completed the look and the stems mirrored the simple look being dressed in black ribbon with additional sparkles.
Laura had a range of ages for her bridesmaids, with one chief bridesmaid, two junior bridesmaids and two flower girls. We thus designed slightly differently sized bouquets for each and wrapped the stems differently. For the eldest bridesmaid, we provided a hand-tied bouquet of ivory ivory gerberas, black bear grass and black feathers, with the stems wrapped in ivory ribbon, with a narrower black ribbon crossed over the top.
For the younger bridesmaids, we provided smaller bouquets of gerberas, feathers and grasses and wrapped the stems in black ribbon, with narrow ivory ribbon crossed over the top.
And for the flower girls, it had to be gerbera "wands" surrounded in ivory feathers and diamante crystals, and with the stems wrapped in ivory, with narrow ivory ribbon crossed over. All very similar in design but with subtle differences.
Buttonholes and corsages were a mixture of roses, gerberas and spray roses to tie in, all with additional sprigs of black bear grass and / or black tie loops.
For the reception flowers, we used the Weald of Kent's martini glass vases and added black sisal into the bowls, before placing a hidden dish arrangement of ivory roses, gerberas and a few lilies along with black bear grass and black tie leaves. As the vases are quite low at Weald of Kent, the arrangements were sized to give maximum "talking" space for guests. The cake was also dressed with a topper of roses, gerberas and lilies, with diamantes, feathers and grasses (no photo I'm afraid as it wasn't possible to finish it at the time we set up the vases).
All in all, the elegant simplicity worked with the striking black and white theme. We hope Laura and Andrew had a wonderful day and that it was everything Laura had planned and hoped for...we think they deserved the very best.
