Boxley House - A fantastic, intimate new wedding venue

It's not often we come across new venues these days, and hence it was lovely to see Boxley House ahead of it being licensed for weddings, and be able to transform it from a working educational venue for the European School of Osteopathy.

Boxley House is a gorgeous 17th century Jacobean Manor House set in 17 acres of lovely unspoilt parkland and is just above the pretty Boxley Church.  It's such a lovely setting for a wedding, and will undoubtedly become a very popular venue.  As well as the terrace and lovely parkland providing a perfect outdoor setting (along with great areas for marquee weddings), it is lovely inside when dressed for a wedding.

This weekend we had the first Open Weekend for Boxley House, arranged by the lovely Teresa at Inspired Wedding Venues (http://www.inspiredweddingvenues.com/) and we had fun transforming the venue to show it off to prospective couples.  It's been a lovely weekend as the venue has a really warm and friendly feel to it, and Teresa's team of suppliers were all on hand to help.

To give you a feel for the venue, we thought we'd take some photos and give you a virtual walk around.  Starting at the front entrance, we added two simple baytrees dressed with a trailing organza bow and a touch of sisal at the base to set the colour scheme.

We then move into the reception hall and added a simple arrangement to the desk and to the coffee table.

We dressed the bottom half of the lovely staircase with a simple garland, some organza bows and a simple gerbera at the bottom.  The window at the turn of the staircase gives some lovely light, and will soon be dressed with an organza drape which will make it a perfect spot for photos.

For the ceremony, we used the Drawing Room and added slightly more contemporary styled arrangements on the mantelpiece, the celebrant table, and on two glass pedestals.  All were placed to frame the happy couple taking their vows.  Any of these could be moved after a ceremony to dress the reception room for the wedding breakfast.

This weekend however, we provided seperate arrangements for the beautiful fireplace and then dressed the tables that were set for the wedding breakfast.  We decided to provide slightly softer and less contemporary arrangements for this room to fit in with the lovely wood panelling.  For the top table, we used mini martini vases to tie in with the tables, and to ensure that the top table didn't compete with the mantelpiece.

Teresa and I had "played" with organza on Friday evening and draped half of the room from the Minstrels Gallery, which looked really soft and pretty.

To show that both low and taller arrangements work in this setting, we dressed some tables with martini vases and others with hurricane lamps with floral surrounds which allowed us to add some soft candlelight.

To complement the venue dressing, we provided a simple hand-tied rose bouquet and a rose wand to tie in with the floral theme.

In addition to the couples who had booked to see the venue this weekend, we met a constant stream of other couples who called in to see what was possible.  We look forward to seeing them again soon.

We also met a lovely new member of Teresa's supplier team, Sara Chapman from http://www.sarajanechocolates.co.uk/   Her chocolates are absolutely exquisite and not only look fantastic, but taste amazing.  Her champagne truffles are to die for and there is one amazing chocolate called Pacific Spice made with a hint of ginger and cinammon.....fabulous.  Sara gave us a few of the gorgeous champagne truffles....a perfect competition prize.....good job I won it...yum!

All in all, Boxley House is a wonderful venue worth seeing.  We look forward to providing the flowers for many a wedding there in the future.
