Gemma and Nick's eclectic, glamorous wedding at Chilston Park Hotel

When I first spoke to Gemma, we talked about Thailand, Matthew Williamson, boho chic and other such glamorous things.  When I first met Gemma and Nick face to face, it all made perfect sense as they are the most chic, glamorous and lovely couple.  Nick proposed in Thailand, hence orchids were a focal point, and the rest of the theme grew from there.

Gemma chose an exquisite and unusual dress with an empire line bodice, flashes of gold accents and a soft, slightly tiered feathery skirt.  I can only imagine how amazing this will have looked.  Nick chose a suit which we christended "bleach bottle blue" after the industrial sized bottle sitting in the studio!  The two bridesmaids chose their own dresses and each was a different colour.

For the flowers we decided upon a loose tied bouquet for Gemma using the colours of peacock feathers as a base.  We added Marbella Phalaenopsis orchids, green cymbidium orchids and purple vanda orchids along with gentiana, aconitum, anigozanthus (kangaroo paw), veronica, Picasso Calla lilies and eucalyptus parvifolia.  The bouquet could be carried low in one hand, or over the arm, whichever was preferred.  Peacock feathers were added throughout.

For her bridesmaids, we used gold ribbon on which to design the wrist corsages, and used Red Lips phalaenopsis orchids and white dendrobrium orchids, Picasso Calla lilies, peacock feathers and a few sprigs of grass.

Nick's buttonhole used the Picasso Calla Lily along with the Marbella phalaenopsis orchid, backed with the ubiquitous peacock feather.

The groom's party all wore Red Lips phalaenopsis orchids backed with peacock feathers and the Mums wore corsages of Marbella phalaenopsis and dendrobrium orchids with grasses.  Each Mum had a thank you bouquet using an eclectic mix of flowers matching the colour scheme, and each designed slightly differently, which was only fitting seeing the rest of the scheme.

For the Orangery, Gemma and Nick had bought white birdcages, which we dressed with a trailing arrangement of orchids, veronica, peacock feathers and calla lilies and added a colourful selection of candles.  We then dressed the celebrant table with two mirrored cubes containing gorgeous tall double stemmed phalaenopsis orchids finished with peacock feathers and cerise pink sisal.

For the wedding breakfast in The Hussey Hall, Gemma and Nick had decided to add an eclectic and interesting selection of items to each table, and were then adding peacock feathers to each place name.  We added a mirrored cube containing the gorgeous planted Red Lips phalaenopsis orchids finished with feathers and a splash of cerise pink sisal.  The items surrounding each cube were different on each table and included fish, stiletto shoes, a silver globe, a gorgeous silver elephant, a buddha's head and lovebirds under a bell jar / cloche on the top table.  All totally gorgeous and very original.

The wedding looked stunning, the bridal party were lovely, Gemma looked radiant even with make-up half way through and I'm absolutely certain that each and every wedding guest will have been treated to the best day and will remember it forever.

Janina and Steve's wedding at Combe Bank School

We first met Janina and Steve last year just after Steve had proposed to Janina at the end of the New York marathon....which they'd both run!  Both Janina and Steve were focussed on having a lovely wedding day but without going over the top with details.  They knew they wanted orchids to feature, wanted a relatively contemporary look and the colour scheme to be a warm, autumnal one to match pot pourri Janina had already bought.  We therefore decided upon cymbidium orchids, calla lilies, anigozanthus (kangaroo paw), skimmia, hypericum and light foliage. 

To welcome guests to Combe Bank School, we provided slim lily vases with arrangements of orchids, anigozanthus and hypericum for each of the alcoves in the entrance hall.

For the wedding ceremony in the chapel, we provided two slim candlesticks to frame Janina and Steve taking their vows each with a contemporary arrangement of orchids, calla lilies and skimmia.

Janina chose a truly stunning Ian Stuart dress and we therefore decided to provide a wired shower bouquet, but designed in a more contemporary style.  We used red vanda orchids, Charlie Brown cymbidium orchids, calla lilies and grasses for the bouquet which would set off Janina's dress perfectly.

For the bridesmaids, we decided upon more unusual over-wrist bouquets designed to be held in the hand and curved elegantly over the arm at wrist height.  We used orchids, hypericum berries and a few touches of skimmia along with grasses and they looked really elegant.  For the young Flower Girls, we decided upon fun orange gerbera "wands" surrounded with burgundy feathers.

Steve wore a calla lily buttonhole to tie in with Janina's bouquet and we then used the cymbidium orchids for the remainder of the buttonholes and corsages.

Janina and Steve provided the hurricane lamp arrangements for the tables, so we just added a small arrangement for the cake table to bring in the flowers used elsewhere and finally we provided thank-you bouquets for the Mums which echoed the flowers used throughout the wedding, presented in a more contemporary style.

I'm not sure Janina will have sprinted down the aisle in her fantastic dress, but I do know that both Janina and Steve were so looking forward to getting married and just wanted to have a great day with family and friends.  We hope they enjoyed every second of it.
