Jena and Mark's wedding at St.Francis Church followed by Oakwood House, Maidstone

 

 

Jena and Mark came to us having seen our flowers both on the website and at a family wedding.  They are such a laid-back lovely couple and were planning a fresh, pretty and contemporary wedding.  Jena's Mum has just got involved in helping with the flowers at their church, and was therefore going to dress the church on the day, which we know she will have done brilliantly. 

Jena had chosen pale yellow / lemon dresses for her bridesmaids and hence wanted to use lemon and ivory as her very fresh and up to date colour scheme.

For Jena's bouquet we used the lovely Vanilla Sky rose along with Maroussia with simple yet effective loops of bear grass and additional sparkles. 

For the adult bridesmaids, we decided to use the Maroussia roses on their own as a contrast against the dresses, and we finished the stems with a small bow in the colour of their dresses.  For the Flower Girl, a little Vanilla Sky "wand" was provided surrounded in sparkles and bear grass.

For Mark, we wanted to match Jena's bouquet and hence provided a double buttonhole using both the Vanilla Sky and Maroussia roses with bear grass.  For the rest of the boys, an ivory rose buttonholes was used, and then corsages for Mums and Nan were provided.  Additionally two thank-you bouquets were provided for the Mums.

At Oakwood House, Jena and Mark wanted to keep the look and feel very fresh and contemporary so we decided upon mirrored cubes for each of the tables with a mix of lemon and ivory flowers including roses, gerberas, celosia, freesias and bridal gladioli.  To make sure that they were easy to give away as gifts, each arrangement was actually a hand-tied bouquet in it's own hidden aqua pack...this allows us to hire out the vases and yet still have something substantial to give away after the big day.

For the top table, we decided to provide smaller mirrored cubes with slightly more lemon colouring on the top table.  We then provided empty vases at either end so that the bridesmaids had somewhere to put their bouquets and keep them fresh.  We also added roses to Jena and Mark's place settings.

Finally, we dressed the three tier cake for Jena and Mark with alternating roses between each tier.

We loved the chair bows at Oakwood House, and the side tie used on the top table.  They were provided by the lovely Leanne and her team from Pretty Bows and we think they were a perfect match. 

We know that Jena and Mark had a wonderful wedding day and that it was just the first in a few consecutive days of celebrations.  We loved working with them and meeting some of the wonderful family.  We wish them all the very very best in their married life together.

Carol and David's wedding at Oakwood House

Carol and David have been together for over twenty years and marriage wasn't that important to them until lately.  Hence Carol wanted to keep the wedding day fairly simple, minimalistic and to be shared with just a smallish number of friends and family....until the evening where the numbers swelled to over 150!  She had teased David that she was going to buy a regular dress from Coast or similar and wasn't going to look like a bride!  Hopefully he didn't realise she was teasing until she walked down the aisle in a stunning, slightly grecian styled dress.

For her flowers, Carol wanted to keep everything very simple and in a purple and ivory palette.  She was concerned too many different purples in the bouquets and personal flowers might clash, so we kept it very simple....purple vanda orchids (not at all simple...very exotic really) and calla lilies.

For Carol's bouquet, we decided upon a more casual overarm hand-tied style of ivory callas and purple vanda orchids with a few sprigs of grass and a few leaves.  Elegant, and very striking in its simplicity.

Carol's sister was her bridesmaid and carried an ivory calla lily hand-tied bouquet, and her Flower Girl, Chloe, carried an ivory calla lily "wand" withe just a few shaved feathers, sparkles and grasses.  Buttonholes were simply ivory calla lilies as were corsages.

For the ceremony in the Garden Room, we provided two structural and strking pedestals and introduced the lovely bi-coloured Picasso Calla Lily, some exotic foliage and striking purple alliums.  Carol intended to lay her bouquet across the front of the table.

The wedding reception was in the Billiard Room at Oakwood House in a horseshoe configuration.  We provided tall lily vases (which would be used on the tables for the evening reception) and alternated either purple water down the stems with ivory calla lilies in test tubes, or clear water and purple vanda orchids in test tubes.  Simple triple Calla Lily arrangements with aspidistra and grasses were used in the top, wrapped in purple ribbon and finished with a single crystal to match the bouquets.

We added three arrangements to the alcoves behind the top table, and added an orchid to the place setting for the bride and groom.  Although the room wasn't complete when we left, it was going to look pretty striking.

We have to give a mention to Michelle at http://www.sweetandfancycupcakes.co.uk/ who was in the process of setting up seven tiers of the most beautiful cupcakes...she'd decorated them simply in purple and ivory with a range of different, chocolate themed toppings.  They smelt divine and were evidently a mix of carrot cakes, chocolate cakes, lemon cakes, vanilla and others.  I have a feeling there would be none left by the end of the evening as they looked and smelt fabulous!

Hopefully Carol and David had the best day, and that it was worth the wait.  The weather may not have been at its best, but I have a feeling that there would have been laughter all round throughout the day, and absolutely everyone will have had a wonderful time.

Oakwood House Wedding Fair

Yesterday was Oakwood House, Maidstone Wedding Fair where we provided a tablecentre for their showpiece table and also an arrangement for the Bridal Suite in addition to our stand. 

We showed a range of bouquets and tablecentres in a more contemporary black, aubergine, purple and lime green style.

We then used muted pinks, lilacs and ivories in vintage inspired range of bouquets and tablecentres with additions such as lace and buttons.

Thanks to all the lovely comments from visitors yesterday, and I would just like to reiterate to everyone who asked (and wasn't sure they believed me) that each and every flower used was real, and not silk!  I had to encourage some customers to "feel" the flowers to believe me!.  Whilst we may occasionally design silk bouquets for brides, especially if travelling overseas, we generally work with fresh flowers including at wedding fairs.

We look forward to meeting and hearing from a range of customers, even if their weddings are planned for 2012 and 2013 as we have already started taking bookings for future years beyond 2011.
