Victoria and Jason's wedding at Nettlestead Church followed by Penshurst Place

For Victoria and Jason's wedding, Victoria and Jason wanted to demonstrate a true marriage of Kent and Essex, which we interpreted via the use of apples and hops.  Victoria wanted a pretty floral theme to bring in the kingfisher blue of the bridesmaids' dresses along with the ivory and wanted to reflect the grandeur of the Baron's Hall in Penshurst.  We thus chose candelabra along with hydrangeas, roses, eryngium thistle, chincherinchee, gerberas, ammi majus and eucalyptus.

For the bridal bouquet, we designed a shower bouquet to include all the flowers described above along with hops and malus / crab apples....wiring apples into a bridal bouquet was definitely a first, but it really worked with the theme and provided a talking point.  Victoria's dress was a lovely halter necked dress with a full skirt, and hence the bouquet was perfect agains the dress.  For the eldest bridesmaids, we provided textured hand-tied bouquets of ivory roses, eryngium thistle, veronica, chincherinchee and freesias. We wrapped the stems in offcuts of the dress fabric to ensure the right colour match. For the youngest bridesmaid, we provided a smaller version of the bouquet and wrapped the stems in white ribbon which picked up the white net underskirt.

Roses, chincherinchee, eucalyptus and rosemary were all used in corsages and buttonholes.

For the church, we dressed the pews in the aisle with zinc buckets filled with hydrangeas, roses and hops and then added an altar arrangement and two large pedestal arrangements.  The altar arrangement and pedestals were then moved to Penshurst Place for use on the top table and the present table.

At Penshurst Place, we used chrome candelabra with a full floral surround at the bottom.  Buckets from the aisles at the church were used on side tables, and the top table had a long and low arrangement matching in with the main tables.  We were also asked to assemble and dress the "cheeses cake" and used grapes, redcurrants, blueberries and wild sloe berries in wired strings to drape around the cheeses.

To finish the look, we provided lollipop baytrees to frame the entrance with a trailing bow of white and kingfisher blue.  We then wired roses and florets of hydrangea in hidden water phials throughout the trees.  Unfortunately, we forgot to photograph the trees....out of sight and out of mind really did ring true!

Overall, the lighting in the Baron's Hall, the talking point apples and hops and the stunning colour scheme and outfits chosen by Victoria and Jason made this a very memorable wedding.  Everyone looked to be having a great time and with the beautiful late summer weather during the drinks reception, I imagine the photos will have looked superb....hope we get to see some, but in the meantime let's hope that ours give a good impression.
