Cooling Castle Barn Open Day

Wow...what a day yesterday at Cooling Castle Barn!!!  Literally thousands of people came to the Open Day and it was packed!  We were a florist down at the last minute due to sickness, so many apologies to all those people we couldn't get around to talking to, including those who kept coming back hoping we were free.  Also thanks to the really patient ones for waiting for us...we tried our best to get to as many of you as possible, and LOVED hearing all the ideas, discussing all the weddings being planned even into 2015.  We look forward to seeing lots of you again.

We had decided to go with a bold colour scheme of blue, pink, lemon and green...we had provided flowers earlier in the year in this palette and loved it, so went with it again.  For the softer, more vintage side we kept the colours more muted, and then made everything brighter and bolder for the more contemporary side.

Starting with the vintage inspired flowers, we included bouquets for bride, bridesmaid and flower girl.  We also designed a candelabra tablecentre, a mixed silver vase tablecentre, a Wishing Tree, a tableplan designed on a mannequin, a birdcage postbox and a tiered basket of confetti cones.

For the slightly more contemporary side, we designed a glamorous tablecentre using crystal candle holders and orchids, an exotic martini vase arrangementa and a full and fabulous floral ball for the tables.  For the bridal party we designed a crash wired orchid bouquet for a bride with a matching overarm bouquet for a bridesmaid, an overarm anthurium and calla lily bouquet, a hand-tied rose and brooch bouquet, a multi-coloured exotic bridal bouquet, a rose wand and two floral handbags (one for a bride and one for a bridesmaid / flower girl).

Finally, we dressed four of the beams in the main barn, two with a looser style faux blossom garland entwined with fairy lights and two with hanging hearts.  One of the hearts was designed to match the softer more vintage side of our display, and the other was slightly more contemporary using anthuriums and with added fairy lights.

Our lovely friends at Creative Cakes provided favours for our tablesetting, and made heart cookies following our blue and lemon scheme, each piped with our names.  These were placed in front of each napkin making them ideal joint favours and placenames.  They taste yummy too.  We forgot to photograph them in place (well it was really busy) so we've taken a shot today to show you how lovely they are.

Thanks again to everyone who helped us, said lovely things to us, and who generally came to chat yesterday.  See you again soon.
