Last week we were at Cooling Castle Barn again for the long awaited wedding of Ann and Simon, one that was always going to be a lovely and extremely glamorous occasion given Ann's style. The colour scheme was shades of purple and ivory / white and we were thrilled to be using hydrangeas again (using different varieties to bring in some depth and contrast). Ann wanted a hint of vintage feeling to her flowers whilst keeping them striking and up to date. Butterflies were also a key theme.
For her bouquet we used fabulous peonies (most of them home-grown) along with sweet peas, spray roses, lisianthus and veronica along with rosemary, mint and eucalyptus. We kept the colour largely ivory with a hint of purple. Given the flowers and foliage used, you can imagine how fabulous the scent was! We wrapped the stems in lace and added different sized crystals at random intervals to bring in the touch of sparkle to tie in with Ann's dress, tiara etc. When we delivered it, we added a beautiful butterfly brooch (borrowed from her bridesmaid Camilla - a former bride of ours from several years ago) to the stem which looked gorgeous.
For the bridesmaids, we kept the bouquets relatively small and delicate so that they worked with tea length dresses and used sweet peas, lisianthus, spray roses and freesias. And for the two flower girls, we used single Pacific Blue roses surrounded by eucalyptus and rosemary in a very natural "wand" style.
The buttonholes and corsages all toned with the rest of the bouquets, with Simon and Oliver's being a Gletsjer large headed scented rose with a purple veronica and a sprig of eucalyptus, and the remainder being Pacific Blue roses with euclayptus. Chincherinchee and spray roses kept the corsages delicate for the Mums.
For the ceremony, we used two large lily vases with a full top level arrangement to frame the dais for the ceremony and used two small lily vases on the celebrant table. Flowers used were hydrangeas, lisianthus, freesias, spray roses and larger headed roses, ammi majus, veronica, rosemary, mint and eucalyptus. Additional butterflies floated amongst the flowers and additional colour was added by way of the water colour in the vases.
For the reception, guests were welcomed and found their tables via the use of a birdcage with the table plan attached. We dressed this with flowers to match the wedding. The cake was also dressed with a topper to match the tables and additional blooms dotted throughout the tiers of lace wrapped fairy cakes (no photo I'm afraid of the cake).
For the tables, we used the tall lily vases (perfectly spot lit by Cooling Castle Barn) with a full top level arrangement matching those for the ceremony.
We dressed the top table with three smaller lily vases with a smaller version of the guest table arrangements on top. We finished the top table with roses and veronicas as place settings.
We thought the whole theme, the attention to detail and Ann's meticulous planning made this a wedding to remember for everyone involved and we look forward to seeing what will undoubtedly be a gorgeous and glamorous set of photos when Ann and Simon return from their fabulous honeymoon.
