When we first met Sarah and talked about her wedding style (think pretty and vintage), we talked about dresses and I mentioned Candy Anthony. Many months later, meet one very jealous florist as Sarah did indeed choose a Candy Anthony gown for her big day, with a pale pink polka dot overlay. Just can't wait to see the photos.
Sarah wanted to include brooches in all her bouquets and collected a vast and varied amount from friends, relatives, charity shops, antique shops etc. As a bit of a magpie myself, I had great fun working with them all. We included them in Sarah's bouquet and in her four bridesmaids' bouquets. In addition to the brooches we used Amnesia and O'Hara roses, bouvardia, astrantia, chincherinchee, freesias, eryngium, veronica and a base of pale blue hydrangeas to work with the bridesmaids' dresses. We added rosemary, flowering mint and eucalyptus through the bouquets to keep them looking spriggy and natural. The overall texture of the bouquets was gorgeous. Polka dot ribbon and a large brooch was the order of the day for Sarah's bouquet stems, whilst we used a pale blue polka dot for the bridesmaids.
The boys buttonholes were all soft and textured with Chris having a larger Amnesia rose added to ensure it took centre stage. We also provided corsages for the Mums and Nans, all tailored to their outfits and provided thank-you bouquets for the Mums.
To welcome guests to the wedding, we provided a large cream wire birdcage and dressed it with flowers to match the wedding. We left the top propped open and used it as a postbox for the day. We also provided baskets full of confetti cones, that we made to match the polka dot theme and to match the colours.
For the ceremony, we dressed the dais with organza fabric (and the obligatory polka dot ribbon!) and added hydrangeas through the front. The celebrant table was finished with a selection of vases and jars all finished with raffia or lace and filled with flowers to match the wedding. So simple, yet so pretty.
Sarah and Chris married at Cooling Castle Barn on a Monday in September and hence had some table flowers included in the package. These were ivory hydrangeas tied with bear grass in medium height lily vases. The hydrangeas worked with Sarah and Chris' overall soft, multi-petalled theme, so we kept them in, and added to them by wrapping a foliage garland wired with eryngiums around each vase. We then added other vases (some ours and some Sarah and Chris') around the base of the lily vases along with long strands of pearls and dried rosebuds.
For the top table, we added a large selection of china, pots, vintage marmalade jars, teacups and pots along the front of the table, all filled with flowers and then draped pearls throughout. We added roses to the place settings and rosebuds to the front of the table....so very pretty and soft.
Again as part of the package, a two tier cake was provided for Sarah and Chris (from our friends at Creative Cakes) and we again decided to add to it to work with the theme. Guess what was added....yes, polka dot ribbon was added to each tier as well as a full floral topper and lighter wired section for the bottom tier. We then sprinkled blue hydrangea florets around the cake table to finish. It just shows how a simple (yet yummy) cake can be dressed to make it very personal.
Fairy lights were added as a finishing touch to each of the beams and the day was set for a fabulous wedding. We saw the lovely Sarah arrive (and have a few tears in her eyes as she saw the room for the first time) and we saw her the following morning wishing she could do it all again. I know they had a wonderful day, and so deserved it. We wish them all the very very best for a happy future together.
