Vicki and Simon's wedding party at Tudor Park Hotel

As with many couples, Vicki and Simon decided to get married in Cyprus with close friends and family and then have a celebratory party here in the UK later in the year.  Vicki asked us to design a contemporary and fresh ivory and green floral theme for the party.  She wanted some additional sparkle and obligatory butterflies!

Whilst there wasn't going to be a formal seating plan, Vicki and Simon had a number of round tables which we dressed with a central mirror on which was placed a large martini glass arrangement.  As the party was to be in the evening, we added fairy lights in the base of the martini vases and then designed arrangements of oriental lilies, shamrock blooms, roses, germinis, bridal gladioli and trachellium along with eucalyptus foliage.  We draped crystals around the edge of each arrangement and added a large butterfly.  Very striking.

We welcomed guests into the room with baytrees dressed with fairy lights and also wound organza ribbon around the stems.  (Sorry about awful photo...had a bad camera day!)

For the bar, we added a mini martini vase to set the scene and then used mirrored cubes on the low occasional tables in the bar area containing hand-tied bouquets to match the wedding flowers.

 

Finally, we provided thank-you bouquets for the Mums.

It just goes to show that you can have the best of both worlds...European gorgeous weather and a Kent reception / party.  And a chance to wear your wedding outfits twice...what's not to love!

Bouquets to cheer up even the grimmest day!

I was going to write a full wedding blog today, but decided to cheer myself up with a look back through a few recent bouquets, most of which haven't made it to the blog yet.  Having sleet and snow yet again makes the world look black and white and I decided we needed some colour...which is your favourite?

Laura and Ian's Bradbourne House Wedding

Back in the autumn of last year (sorry for delay...have a bit of a backlog!), Laura and Ian were married in Bearsted Church and then had their reception at Bradbourne House.  They wanted a very simple and elegant look to their wedding and their colour scheme was blue and ivory.  An additional scottish twist was added via use of the eryngium thistle.

Laura chose an elegant dipped neckline A-line gown embellished at the top and wore a lovely bolero jacket with it.  We decided on a long trailing teardrop bouquet using roses, oriental and lonigfloral lilies, lisianthus and eryngium thistle with ivy and silver bear grass.  We kept the bouquet relatively slimline to work best with Laura's frame and dress.  We added additional crystal sprigs throughout to match the embellishment on the dress.

The three bridesmaids all wore dark blue dresses and therefore we kept their hand-tied bouquets as light as possible using roses, germini, lisianthus and a touch of eryngium along with ivy and silver bear grass.  We then provided a smaller version of this bouquet for the Flower Girl.  We tied all stems with ivory ribbon and added a dark blue bow at the top.

For Ian, we decided on an ivory rose buttonhole with eryngium, lisianthus and sprigs and loops of silver bear grass as this best tied in with Laura's bouquet.  We then used the rose and eryngium with bear grass but no lisianthus for the rest of the Groom's party.  The Mother of the Bride had a corsage designed to match her chosen outfit.

At Bradbourne House, we added bows to the baytrees in the entrance to welcome guests.  We then dressed the banisters in the entrance hall with a trailing newel post arrangement and a vase of flowers in the fireplace.  Tables, alcoves and appropriate other spaces were dressed with mirrored cubes filled with a hand-tied bouquet to match the wedding flowers.

For the top table, we designed a full central lightly trailing arrangement of lilies, roses, germini, eryngium, lisianthus and foliage including monstera, aspidistra, ivy and grasses.  We decided to add rose petals and eryngium heads along the front of the cloth to soften and add a touch more Scottish colour.  We also added single roses to each place setting.

For the guest tables, Laura and Ian wanted tall, simple yet striking arrangements, so we used lily vases dressed with folaige garlands interspersed with eryngium heads around the outside of the vases.  We then added a hand-tied arrangement of lilies, germini, thistle and bear grass edged with monstera leaves.  They gave height and focus to the room without being too full and overpowering and were all given away to guests to further enjoy after the wedding.

Laura and Ian were such wonderful people to work with and so easy to please.  We know that they had a great day and were delighted to receive the lovely photos of them together.  We hope they're thoroughly enjoying married life.
