Katie and Jim's wedding at Chart Hills Golf Club

Well what a week for a wedding....definitely a case for thermals underneath lovely wedding outfits!  We had a worrying time waiting for flowers in the snow....the first set were frost damaged and had to be replaced, but thanks to the efforts of the Metz drivers, they arrived at 4am on Thursday and we were able to start working on Katie and Jim's flowers.

Katie and Jim wanted a crisp, contemporary feel for their flowers in a green and ivory colour palette, which is always striking and elegant.  Additional sparkle was to be added, and Katie was keen on using unusual flowers to provide a talking point, hence we used natural green roses, anthuriums and greentrick along with large headed ivory roses and germini....all very lovely along with the eucalyptus.

Katie was going to be wearing a lovely and very full and sparkly wedding dress and hence a shower bouquet was designed to best work with the dress.  Katie wanted it to be contemporary in style and fairly small, and we decided using mainly green flowers would be the best contrast against her dress.  We used plenty of aspidistra leaves and grasses along with Greentirck, anthuriums, green roses and some ivory germini.  We added sparkles to the centres of some of the flowers to complement her dress.

Her bridesmaids were wearing knee length green dresses and hence we worked with mainly ivory flowers for contrast.  We provided hand-tied, relatively small bouquets of roses, germini and greentrick along with eucalyptus.

For Jim we decided upon a green rose buttonhole, with ivory for the remainder of the grooms party.  Mums' corsages were designed to work with specific outfit colours, and Nan's corsages were a little smaller than the Mums' and kept to ivory.

For the ceremony in the lovely room at Chart Hills Golf Club, we provided a contemporary styled arrangement for the celebrant table, which set off the view onto the snowy scene outdoors perfectly.  It also matched the carpets at Chart Hills really well!  We added green roses to the chair bows down the aisle to frame Katie and Jim taking their vows.

As we weren't able to set up all the tablecentres for the reception (as tables were being moved after the ceremony), Mark and his team were really accommodating and bore with us whilst we set some up on tables for photos, and then moved them off again afterwards.  You can see that we provided tall trumpet vases with fairy lights down the stems for extra sparkle as the day got darker.  We then provided full, yet very open, structural and contemporary top arrangements for each of the guest tables.  For the top table, Mark Kerr and his team were going to be moving the celebrant table arrangement into the centre of the top table, and we provided a bag full of green rose petals to scatter along the front of the table either side of the arrangement.  The team at Chart Hills (http://www.charthills.co.uk/) were so organised and had everything ready just as promised (which is so nice to work with) and it enabled us to put the finishing touches to the flowers very quickly and efficiently.  The room would have looked lovely when set up for the reception, and I hope you can get an idea of it from the photos we took.

Katie and Jim had asked Sue Honey at Honey Buns (suehoney2003@yahoo.co.uk; 07821 968270) to provide three tiers of cup cakes with a top cutting tier for their cake.  The cakes smelt lovely and it was nice to meet another perfectionist...we had great fun deciding exactly where to place cakes and flowers and I think the overall finished look was lovely.  Each of the cakes glittered under the light and the green roses and greentrick we dotted through the tiers brought out the little flowers on the top.  It was all finished with a small floral arrangement on the top, and we think it looked lovely.

Despite worries about getting flowers, and getting out to deliver in the snow, everything went like clockwork and by the time we dropped off the bouquets for Katie and her bridal party, they were all looking very glamorous with hair and make up and were obviously going to look fabulous and have a great wedding day and party.  We think the snow was the "icing on the cake" to use an awful pun and it worked particularly well with the colours Katie and Jim chose.  We look forward to seeing their photos in due course.
