Celebrity Wedding Planner at Frasers Barn

Did anyone see the first in the new series of Celebrity Wedding Planner on Channel Five last week?  If so, you'll have seen some of our flowers!!  John and Nina were the celebrities planning a Kent wedding and the bride and groom went to Frasers Barn to look at what would have been their perfect wedding venue.  As is the case on these kind of shows, the celebrities chose somewhere else for the big day, but the happy couple were able to see what a fab venue Frasers Barn at Coldharbour is, and how it would have been perfect for them.

To show it off to it's best, we dressed the marquee, ceremony barn and bar with loads of lovely flowers.  We didn't konw the bride and groom loved black and white, so we decided to go for pale pinks, blues, greens and lemons to show how summery it can all look even on a less than sunny winters day.

For the marquee, we used tall elegant candelabra interspersed with low mixed vintage style vases.  We added crystals to the candelabra and to the tables and it looked gorgeous.  We also added low candelabras to the side tables.  All were finished with the gentle flicker of battery operated candles.

We added a wishing tree to an occasional table, a floral cake plate in the entrance, and vases on the coffee table.  We even welcomed the happy couple with baytrees dressed with organza ribbons and fairy lights.

We followed the vintage theme through to the ceremony barn, using a bird cage and teacups for the celebrant table.

For the trendy bar area, we decided to work with orchids and crystal globe candles for a slightly more contemporary style.  Frasers Barn is such a flexible venue and lends itself to both contemporary and vintage styles...not many places you can say that about.

It was great to see our flowers featured during the Frasers section and it made the long day worthwhile (who would believe how long it takes to film less than two minutes air time!).  Hopefully you all loved the venue and the flowers and we'll be able to create our own "celebrity wedding " for you.

Hannah and Richard's vibrant pink and lime wedding

Well it's taken us far too long to get around to blogging this lovely wedding, especially as Hannah and Richard are two of the nicest people we've worked with, but better late than never!  Hannah and Richard found us through Hannah's cousin Amy who we provided the flowers for in June of last year at Coltsford Mill.  Hannah loved the flowers and wanted a similarly vibrant and contemporary style and hence we started planning. 

Hannah was such a lovely, bubbly, caring bride and wanted her wedding to be bright and memorable.  Her dress was a gorgeous ivory gown with diamante and ruched detailing and a very glamorous halter neck.  She finished it off with a lace bolero jacket.  Being a hairdresser we knew that the girls would have lovely hairstyles, but I have to say Hannah's was truly stunning...so glamorous.

For her bouquet, we decided on a mix of hot pink and pale pink flowers along with splashes of lime green.  We also added sprigs of china grass to break up the uniform shape and added an "heirloom" ring to the bouquet that had been given to her by her father.

For the bridesmaids, we decided to go for slightly paler flowers to contrast against their hot pink dresses.  We wrapped the stems in ivory but added a hot pink bow at the top.  For Shayla, Hannah and Richard's lovely little girl, we provided a mini version of the bridal bouquet sized appropriately for Shayla.

Richard wore a Dolce Vita rose buttonhole to match Hannah and Shayla's flowers whilst the rest of the grooms' party wore pink germini buttonholes.  Mums and other special ladies had corsages designed for them with detail added to match their outfits where appropriate.

For the reception at Rianos, we designed two tall lily vases for the buffet table with test-tubes attached to the side of the vases. We then added a hand-tied arrangement to the top.  Guest tables had fishbowls of floating gerberas with gel pearls and china grass and the three tier seperated cake had small toppers of flowers to match the overall wedding flowers.

We then provided lots of vases, sisal and a bit of a design eye to design a really eye-catching sweetie table for Hannah and Richard.  They provided the mountains of sweeties and the lovely bags and labels and we did the rest.  We think it looked pretty good, though we say so ourselves!

Hannah and Richard put so much hard work and thinking into their big day and were determined to make it a memorable day for all concerned.  We know they had a lovely time, which was so well deserved and we were only glad that we could play a small part in it...we miss chatting through all the details and look forward to hearing when Richard finally gets the Subaru he's been wanting for so long!!  Good luck Richard!

Vanessa and Brian's winter wedding at Turkey Mill

We've still got so many weddings unblogged from this year, but I wanted to end the year with a slightly festive feel, so here is Vanessa and Brian's lovely wedding from last week.  They wanted an elegant, classic and striking look to the styling (perfect to match Vanessa's stylish look).  The bridesmaid's dress was a lovely bronze / copper colour so we took the lead from there.  Roses, hypericum berries and gold and bronze foliage worked alongside lots of natural wood and bark.  And the weather turned super frosty and crisp...chilly but perfect for photos.

Vanessa is a truly stylish lady and had chosen a gorgeous glamorous dress, so we decided upon quite a simple bouquet of large headed Maroussia roses with ivory hypericum berries and seasonal foliage.  To keep the look streamlined and elegant, we just scaled down the bouquet for Vanessa's bridesmaid and changed the colour ribbon on the stem.  Really elegant and lovely.

For Brian and the boys, we followed the theme through with elegant roses, berries and foliage, with a gold eryngium thistle added for Brian.  Corsages for Mums followed suit just using spray roses instead of the larger headed ones.

For the ceremony in the Garden Room, Turkey Mill had added lots of lovely pinecones to the baytrees that are in situ which looked lovely.  We therefore just dressed the celebrant table with a fresh seasonal foliage garland with waxed apples, lotus heads, wood curls, bark, berries and silk pointsettia heads.  Perfectly Christmassey and great to take home to adorn a mantelpiece for Christmas.

For the top table, we used two pieces of natural driftwood entwined with fairy lights and with clusters of flowers arranged along the length.  Really unusual and stylish, and I know they were destined to end up on Vanessa and Brian's dining table for Christmas.

For the guest tables, we had Christmas in mind again as we wanted to design arrangements that would work both for the wedding and as appropriate giveaways for guests to enjoy during the festive season.  We used wood, bark, silk pointsettias, roses, hypericum, spray roses, pussy willow, eryngium thistle and ornithogalum arabicum.  Lots of scented festive foliage completed the look. 

We then added an additional arrangement to the gift table to finish the look.

The Christmas trees in place in Turkey Mill matched the colour theme, and the lovely Creative Cakes cake finished the look.

We hope that after a few disappointments earlier in the week that Vanessa and Brian had a perfect day.  Vanessa was looking fabulous (without make-up!) when we delivered her bouquets in the morning, so we can only imagine how lovely she will have looked later.  We hope it was everything they had carefully planned and dreamed of!
