Yingying and Sam's wedding at Chapeldown

On what has to be the hottest day of the year (certainly it felt like it in the Herb Garden at Chapeldown), we were really glad to be using gorgeous exotic flowers for the lovely Yingying and Sam's wedding.  Alpinias and Anthuriums were centre stage in a vibrant wedding theme. 

Despite the herb garden being such a traditional English Garden, the vibrancy of the colours and flowers used really added the exotic touch and yet we added clusters of lavender to the garland to bring in that small touch of the garden.

The fabulous Richard Phillips at Chapeldown restaurant was the setting for the reception, and we followed the contemporary style of the restaurant through to the tablecentres.  The exotic blooms were again centre stage, but we added gorgeous rose petals and lavender to the outer rim of the vases and added a sprig of lavender to each napkin to tie the theme together.  Cones of rose petals were provided for the guests to shower Yingying and Sam.  We also provided a structural cake topper and additional flowers to dot between the tower of individual cakes that were being provided, but as they included cream on such a hot day, we didn't get to see the cake set up.  Thanks to Yinying sending us a photo, you can see how fabulous the cake looked...makes your mouth water just looking at it!

With such exotic flowers, and in order to ensure Yingying's dress was going to be shown to the full, we designed an overarm bouquet for both her and her bridesmaid.  Her bouquet included the Alpinias, Safari and Tropical Anthuriums along with Black Tie Leaves and grasses and we also provided a small throw bouquet of a single Alpinia, leaves and grasses so that she could follow tradition, yet keep her bouquet herself.

Sam wore a Safari anthurium buttonhole, whilst his groomsmen matched the bridesmaid with a Tropical anthurium buttonhole.

Whilst it was definitely going to be a scorching day for a wedding, we hope that for Yingying and Sam, it brought together all their ideas and their lovely sense of style. 

Donna and Peter's wedding at The Ramada Hotel, Maidstone

Another lovely recent wedding we contributed to was the very elegant, fresh and pretty lilac and ivory wedding of Donna and Peter.  Again the weather was stunning and the room was shaping up really nicely when we arrived.  Donna and Peter wanted a relatively simple floral theme in lilac and ivory and we decided upon Pacific Blue and Maroussia roses along with Milka Lisianthus and Helvetia Oriental Lilies.  Donna wanted a more contemporary feel to the flowers, and hence foliage consisted of palms, aspidistra leaves and grasses.  A touch of sparkle completed the look.

As you can see from the photos Donna has kindly sent over and agreed we can use, she and Peter look fantastic and so very happy.  Donna's dress suits her so perfectly and with her elaborate and beautiful hairstyle, she justifiably stole the show.  Her bouquet was a mix of Pacific Blue and Maroussia roses with grasses and a foliage edge to ensure it contrasted perfectly with her dress.  Additional sparkles were added to the centre of each rose (after the photo was taken....silly me!).  Her bridesmaids carried smaller bouquets of Maroussia roses and lisianthus along with loops of grasses.  Buttonholes toned with the remainder of the flowers, with Peters' being the lilac Pacific Blue and everyone else wearing ivory.

For the tables, we decided on hand-tied arrangements of lilies, lisianthus, grasses and palms in lily vases.  We coloured the water a pale lilac to tie in, which looked lovely in the sunlight in the room.  The top table and celebrant table were dressed with a long and low arrangement of roses, lilies, lisianthus, palms and grasses.

Finally we dressed the three tier cake with wired sections of flowers to tone with the table arrangements and bouquets.

Later that evening we spotted some gorgeous Sky Lanterns floating up from the Ramada (we were at Leeds Castle) and found out later that Peter had surprised Donna with them...how lovely was that!  What a nice surprise on such a special day.

Hannah and Tim's wedding at Hadlow Church and after at Salomons

Hannah and Tim's wedding was to be an elegant and stylish wedding with deep purple and ivory as the main colour scheme, which always looks gorgeous but when we had the opportunity to incorporate stunning seasonal deep purple sweet peas, it was always going to be lovely.  It's also always lovely for us to work close to our home and hence providing pedestal flowers for our lovely Hadlow Church was really nice.

The flower choice other than sweet peas including Alliums, Picasso Calla Lilies, Vendella roses, bi-coloured Lisianthus along with eucalyptus and grasses.  A very striking mix of flowers, with plenty of seasonal elements.

Hannah wanted a hand-tied bouquet to compliment her dress.  We used a mix of roses, calla lilies, and sweet peas with foliage and although we are obvioulsy biased, we thought it looked lovely.  Bridesmaids carried rose and sweet pea bouquets and the younger flower girls carried simple "wands" of calla lilies and sweet peas.  Buttonholes and corsages toned and were very elegant.  Mini calla lilies were added to the ladies' corsages, which looked lovely.

Both Hannah and Tim wanted the flowers to be striking, but not too over the top for their wedding.  This held true for tablecentres and venue flowers as well and whilst wanting to dress the large theatre at Salomons appropriately, we didn't want to "overdo" it.  We used tall lily vases for guest tables, and mini ones for the top table and added a single Vendella rose to the stems for guest tables for a touch of floral interest once seated, and then added full, yet not too large top level arrangements on each.  Each sat on a simple mirror and was sprinkled with purple based crystals just to finish,

We heard the bells in Hadlow, but didn't have a chance to get a photo of Hannah and her bridal party, so are itching to see what we think will be stunning photos of a lovely wedding.

Emma and David's wedding at Turkey Mill

With such a fantastic wedding as Emma and David's, it's always nice to see photos of the happy couple and the bridal party.   The flowers are always shown off to their best against chosen dresses, rather than in the delivery boxes, so it's great to see Emma and David's glamorous photos.  I think everyone seeing them will agree that the dresses are fabulous...Emma's is so detailed and fits to perfection, and how nice to see halternecks on the bridesmaids' dresses...very Hollywood and glamorous.  But the star of the day has to be Emma's hair decoration....what a truly beautiful and unusual addition to her lovely outfit. 

It was sunshine all around for Emma and David's wedding at Turkey Mill.  With glorious sunshine outside and a gorgeous vibrant colour scheme of orange with a touch of lime green, it was a lovely bright day all around.  Flowers included Vendella roses and Supergreen roses along with Cymbidium orchids and orange gerberas.  Palms and various grasses finished the look.

Emma's bouquet was a lovely hand-tied bouquet of roses, orchids and germinis along with sparkles and china grass.  Her bridesmaids carried orange gerbera, crystal and china grass bouquets, and a scaled down germini version of the bouquet was provided for the flower girls.  All wore flowers in their hair to match (apart from Emma with her beautiful headpiece).

Buttonholes and corsages matched the theme with David's being the more exotic cymbidium orchid to tie in with Emma's bouquet.

Tables were tall lily vases with staggered gerberas, grasses and palms, and with orchid heads floating in votives at the base.  The top table was a more exotic arrangement including orchids and roses as well as gerberas.

The gorgeous cake by http://www.sugarplumcakes.co.uk/ was dressed very simply to match the remainder of the theme.....love the way it is offset and the detail on it was really nice.  It smelt yummy and made us all feel hungry!

We always love weddings with colour, but this one really made us smile and cheered us up.  We think it matched the lovely Emma's personality perfectly and hope she and David had the perfect day they deserved.
