Wedding Experience - Kent Showground at Detling

Well, what a wedding fair it was at Detling yesterday! I think it must have been the busiest ever, and the hours seemed to disappear. We met so many lovely people yesterday, and are looking forward to meeting many of them again in their wedding consultations. We also had to turn a number of people away, even for the end of 2010 weddings as we are already booked, which was such as shame.

I must admit I was a little nervous about the Fair before we started as we chose a really vibrant Hot Pink and Orange colour scheme. We took our inspiration from "Fruit Salad" sweets with a touch of Bollywood Glamour thrown in for good measure. It certainly was striking, and made us think of hot summer days. We worried that it may be seen as too bright, but we had so many lovely comments, and lots and lots of bookings, so our gamble paid off! Even those who were planning different colour schemes were keen to meet and talk about how we can inject such a "wow" factor into their special days. For the few people who asked us whether we do flowers in different colours, and whether we ever work with white......we certainly do...in fact I don't think there is a colour scheme we haven't provided as yet.

Our window is now full of vibrant colour and is stopping people in their tracks today, as well as tempting many of them through the door. All the photos of the fair are online already, but we've included a few of our favourites in the blog.

Easter Weddings

We had a number of weddings over the Easter Weekend starting on the Thursday and finishing on the Sunday in venues such as Salomons, The Knowle and Stone Court Hotel. Having had a lot of elegant and striking green and white weddings recently, it was lovely to use vibrant yellows in a number of our weddings, and we also loved focusing on seasonal flowers such as tulips, irises, narcissi etc. Whilst the weather generally held up for the weddings, we think you'll agree that the colours would have brightened the very darkest of days.

Michelle and Graham's wedding at Cooling Castle Barn

One of our weddings last week was Michelle and Graham's at Cooling Castle Barn. Despite the weather everywhere being misty, dull and damp, the skies were bright up at Cooling promising a lovely day. Michelle loves calla lilies and wanted them wherever possible, but decided wisely that we should use oriental lilies for the table centres to manage the budget better.
We used the lovely chocolatey Black Tie leaves throughout and I ended up spending hours removing the spines, splitting and rolling them....for some reason our other florists don't like doing this!! The Snowblossom orchids were also lovely, despite the fact that the first batch sent weren't Snowblossom at all!!! Just a little hiccup that was easily sorted before the big day.

Having had lots of exotic and structural flowers for this wedding, most of the weddings we have over the Easter weekend are focusing on spring flowers, with lots of iris, narcissi and tulips, so have a look back next week for a very different look.
