Emma and Pete's wedding at Elvey Farm

Another lovely wedding at Elvey Farm on Friday. Despite the torrential rain the day before, the sun was streaming through the windows at Elvey, lighting up the celebrant table. Emma had been very laid back in the run up to the wedding, not to mention ill!, but was really getting excited on her wedding morning.

The flowers were a beautiful choice for the setting, and worked well alongside Emma's "pirate lanterns". We weren't sure exactly how we were going to design them until we started, but they came together very easily and quickly and we were pleased with the results.

Elvey was set-up and ready as promised when we arrived and looked immaculate. It is so peaceful and relaxed there, that we didn't really want to leave. However, we decided that being uninvited guests at a pirate themed wedding might not go down too well, and we certainly didn't want to be made to walk the plank. We now can't wait to see Emma and Pete's photos, but in the meantime, we've attached a couple of our own.

Nicola and Stuart's wedding at Chilston Park Hotel

Just had some photos through from Nicola and Stuart which their guests have kindly sent across. We didn't have much time left for photos on the day as the venue were rushing to clear up and re-set everything from a wedding the day before, and hence we were juggling arrangements around Chilston's preparations. It is so lovely to get photos and to actually see our wedding couples in their outfits on their wedding day, as we've nearly always set-up and delivered well before they get dressed.
Nicola and Stuart got married earlier this year at Chilston Park Hotel, and we were so looking forward to their flowers. They were a dream to work with; they were so organised, and all their family and guests were so lovely. Their chosen colour scheme was beautiful and worked so well with the venue, and their outfits. All in all a wonderful happy wedding, which shows in all the photographs.

Mothers Day Flowers

Well Mothers Day has been and gone, and we're now catching our breath again. I don't think any of us knew what our names were by the time we'd got through Thursday, Friday and Saturday! Luckily, we all love Mothers Day in the shop, and we had great fun trying to keep up with the orders. Mothers Day itself was pretty calm by comparison despite all the deliveries and collections.
Although we had a lot of pre-orders from our published collection, I was worried that the credit crunch and the horrendous roadworks outside the shop would have a significant impact on Mothers Day sales this year; thankfully we were rushed off our feet. The two favourites from the collection were Love Hearts and Milky Bar...not sure whether this relates to the sweets themselves, or the flowers used but a large number of Mums around Kent received one of these arrangements. Spring hand-ties were also popular, and no sooner had we made our beautiful tulip and hyacinth bouquets in moulenbekia frames, they flew out of the door.
Despite thinking we had pre-ordered far too many flowers when they arrived in two batches last week, we ended up re-stocking on Monday, so I guess all the planning and worrying paid off. Onwards and upwards as we plan for this weeks weddings and start to think about new ventures...watch this space for further details.

Carys and Russell's wedding at Cooling Castle Barn

Another lovely wedding yesterday at Cooling Castle Barn. The weather was fantastic and Cooling looked great. Carys and Russell had planned such an elegant and yet relaxed wedding, and I know they will have had a fantastic day. Everything was planned to fit with the venue, but also with their own style and personalities, and I think it was a perfect combination. We loved the final choice of flowers and the height of the table centres worked perfectly with the high ceilings. It was also nice creating a slightly different table centre for a circular top table instead of a long top table.
As always with Cooling Castle Barn, everything was ready for us to set up as soon as we arrived, and ready for us to collect this morning as arranged...they make life so much easier for suppliers when they are so organised and professional.
No weddings for us next week, as we have Mothers Day to manage. We're looking forward to it in the shop, and will let you know how it went next week.
