Janina and Steve's wedding at Combe Bank School

We first met Janina and Steve last year just after Steve had proposed to Janina at the end of the New York marathon....which they'd both run!  Both Janina and Steve were focussed on having a lovely wedding day but without going over the top with details.  They knew they wanted orchids to feature, wanted a relatively contemporary look and the colour scheme to be a warm, autumnal one to match pot pourri Janina had already bought.  We therefore decided upon cymbidium orchids, calla lilies, anigozanthus (kangaroo paw), skimmia, hypericum and light foliage. 

To welcome guests to Combe Bank School, we provided slim lily vases with arrangements of orchids, anigozanthus and hypericum for each of the alcoves in the entrance hall.

For the wedding ceremony in the chapel, we provided two slim candlesticks to frame Janina and Steve taking their vows each with a contemporary arrangement of orchids, calla lilies and skimmia.

Janina chose a truly stunning Ian Stuart dress and we therefore decided to provide a wired shower bouquet, but designed in a more contemporary style.  We used red vanda orchids, Charlie Brown cymbidium orchids, calla lilies and grasses for the bouquet which would set off Janina's dress perfectly.

For the bridesmaids, we decided upon more unusual over-wrist bouquets designed to be held in the hand and curved elegantly over the arm at wrist height.  We used orchids, hypericum berries and a few touches of skimmia along with grasses and they looked really elegant.  For the young Flower Girls, we decided upon fun orange gerbera "wands" surrounded with burgundy feathers.

Steve wore a calla lily buttonhole to tie in with Janina's bouquet and we then used the cymbidium orchids for the remainder of the buttonholes and corsages.

Janina and Steve provided the hurricane lamp arrangements for the tables, so we just added a small arrangement for the cake table to bring in the flowers used elsewhere and finally we provided thank-you bouquets for the Mums which echoed the flowers used throughout the wedding, presented in a more contemporary style.

I'm not sure Janina will have sprinted down the aisle in her fantastic dress, but I do know that both Janina and Steve were so looking forward to getting married and just wanted to have a great day with family and friends.  We hope they enjoyed every second of it.

Leanne and Jason's wedding at The Grangemoor Hotel, Maidstone

We've been so looking forward to Leanne's wedding.  She had a lovely elegant theme of midnight blue and ivory, with hints of dusky pink.  This colour scheme works so well in the Grangemoor and matched in with Leanne's bridesmaids' dresses.  Being a hairdresser, we expected Leanne's hair to look good...but it was absolutely gorgeous!  Charlotte at Urban Hair and Beauty in Maidstone had styled Leanne's hair and it was gorgeous.  We didn't notice she was still in her jeans when we took the flowers to her as the hair was so good.  Can't wait to see the finished look as I know the whole bridal party was going to look great. 

For Leanne, we provided a hand-tied bouquet of Vendella roses, with some Amnesia roses added to bring in the pinky colour and with eryngium thistle added througout.  We kept foliage to just loops of bear grass and added a midnight blue bow to the ivory wrapped stems to bring in the colour of the bridesmaids dresses.

For the bridal party, we used an Amnesia rose and eryngium thistle for Jason's buttonhole so that he matched Leanne.  We then used the Vendella rose for the remaining buttonholes and designed ivory and black corsages for Mums with slightly smaller all ivory corsages for Nan.

The Grangemoor looked lovely and elegant with the chair bows and all the butterfly detailing on tables.  As ever, everything was ready for us well in advance at the Grangemoor and it was looking immaculate...we were even given china cups and a teapot for tea when setting up.....not many places we get treated so well.  Leanne and Jason had paid a great deal of attention to detail with butterfly names on glasses, butterfly names for tables and butterfly chocolate favours.  Jason was even checking everything was perfect on the morning of the wedding before getting ready for his big day!  We kept flowers very minimal on the tables which worked really well with everything else....we used fishbowls with blue gel pearls and floated Vendella roses and eryngium thistles around a pink floralyte.

For the top table, we added a long and low trailing arrangement using all the flowers used elsewhere along with mixed foliage.

Finally, we dressed the cake with a topper of roses, thistles and grasses and added a further wired section of flowers to the bottom tier to balance the whole look.

We know Leanne and Jason will have had a brilliant day and we look forward to hearing more about it in due course.  In the meantime, hope you all like the photos.

Wedding Experience at Kent Showground, Detling

Well what a day of two halves...we had a sunny morning on our side of the pavilion, and a really chilly afternoon.  We also had a stand of two halves....vintage on one side and contemporary on the other, which gave a wide appeal.

Following the trend for vintage chic, we designed one side of the stand using muted colours, lace, multi-petalled flowers, old marmalade pots and tea tins, cut glass vases and birdcages.   Inspired by my love of buttons which came from my grandma's button box, we used buttons in bouquets, on the handles and sprinkled on the lace tablecloth....

And on the other side of our stand, we used purples, blacks and a hint of lime green as the colour palette.  We used more structural vases for tablecentres, incorporated wirework and used more exotic flowers.

We found most people preferred one side to the other, but I think the overall preference was a balanced one which we hadn't predicted.  Thanks to everyone for their lovely comments, and apologies to all the people we couldn't talk to as it was absolutely packed!
